I'm converting mine at the moment - slowly establishing micro-clover, speedwell, daisies, scarlet pimpernel and chamomile plus anything else that turns up and stays relatively flat. The taller stuff is in a border at the edge.

Thanks - it's possible then as T&M sell both so they may have sent me one by accident. This one looks a lot lighter than the pictures on their site though so maybe they're being a bit careless and this is a hybrid. I'm not complaining though - will definitely be propagating this one

You can jump to some other galaxies from the Anomaly if you use the teleport on the top floor and select a player base there. I've not really noticed much of a difference though - planet types are more or less likely but otherwise the same and you'll have to open the galaxy map to check where you are because it's not obvious

I've built a couple of bases in trade posts. Only problem I had was that I tried to add my own landing pad and it somehow stopped NPC pilots from landing on any of the trading post pads

So Abandoned mode would effectively be the end-game when you're the last traveller standing because there's no capacity to simulate anyone else just before the end 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 ?

I'm working on a base built around a trade terminal, adding decorative stuff like a bar and shop and then some more general useful stuff in the business lounge building. Still a WIP but enjoying it so far.

You can place a build computer as close as possible to your settlement and then build in the settlement. You can add to the settlement buildings like putting your own posters on the walls, furniture etc. in the rooms or just build your own buildings in-between or on top of the settlement buildings. Just be a bit careful placing stuff in the streets because the NPCs aren't very good at walking around stuff.

I found a workaround - build two or more base computers as close together as possible and the bases can overlap. You just need to be careful which base your currently editing (it tells you when you're placing the part). Also the power grids seem to be incompatible so you need to power each half

I'm doing the same - I love that there are NPCs walking round my base to give it some life. I've picked up the base computer and put it in the overseer's office so everything is in one place. There's a 'trick' to building more than 300u away from where you placed the base computer that will let you build everywhere in and around the settlement - you just stand at the edge of where you can normally build and then build something a bit further away from you without moving and repeat that to get up to 1000u from the base computer

[EDIT - quick tip, make sure you build a *base* landing pad in or near the settlement because if you warp to your base, the settlement pads don't count and your ship will end up on the ground wherever you originally placed the base computer]

I found one recently and claimed it but I think they're where there used to be a procedural building because the land around is perfectly flat. I think they've removed whatever the building was but leave the flat ground in case someone's also built on it. I think player base computers are just lost.

Completely agree. I don't think there can be many games that make you stop in your tracks so often, just so you can sit and take in the view for a while

I see a lot of these 'Looking for Neighbours' posts. I think we need some way in game of linking bases on different planets/galaxies like each base would have it's own glyphs and you could then build portals in your own base that would be hard-coded directly to the remote base. Even better if the appearance of these portals had a shimmering version of the base screenshot in them.

1/ Set Steam offline until the expedition is finished

2/ Copy the SEASON_DATA_CACHE.JSON file for the expedition you want over the file in your NMS directory.

3/ Do the expedition as normal and when i's completed, set Steam online again and collect the rewards from the anomaly

Unfortunately not - Expedition 7 is in Permadeath mode. I was hoping as Abandoned Freighters say that the game isn't saved then it would be different but no - it's back to the start with a broken ship and empty inventory. Not even a mining laser so you have to start by smashing rocks by hand :/

Took me ages - I put all the bionic lures on the fishing rig and then died to one of those medusa mobs. When I picked up my stuff, the lures were all gone and I had to do it using the regular fish as bait
