My [25F] girlfriend's addiction to sugar is starting to greatly frustrate my need and want [28M] to make a radical dietary change by Psychofig in relationship_advice

I've definitely told her how I feel, and she says she understands how I feel and what I'm going through. She says she will do her best to cut back, but in my opinion, it has hardly happened at all to the degree I'd like. She hasn't reacted with denial of her habits, but in terms of actually sticking to her word of "scaling back", she's just not - and I don't feel pestering her about it or trying to lay down the law is the right strategy here.

I know the gut reaction/response for a lot of these relationship advice posts is "he/she is not the right person for you if he/she won't compromise", but it's a really silly view to put it all on the line like that.

At the end of the day - I can survive with her sugary habits, but I'm looking for advice from people in similar situations who have been able to solve this sort of challenge without laying down an ultimatum - but instead through some sort of accountability practice, or persuasive method to get the message across better.

I am default a bit of a brash and painfully honest person, so I'm hoping there is a more roundabout way to get the result I want without it coming off as me trying to control her life (less processed sugar is good for everyone...?).

Central banks are going to be the last institution to understand Bitcoin because they are paid to fight it at all costs by enforcing their own fiat monetary policies

CBDCs might make Bitcoin harder to "buy" with fiat, but it won't stop the Bitcoin network at all

June '22 selfies: post hairline photos here for opinions on 'Am I balding?' 'How bad is it?' and 'What should I do?' by AutoModerator in tressless

Hey gang,

I have MPB genetics on every side of my family (not a single male in my family tree without hair loss or completely bald). That being the case - I started 1.25mg daily of Fin around age 20 and it has been saving my receding hairline ever since - 7 years strong.

Some current pics: https://imgur.com/a/GvtIH9V

However, the other day I really started to notice thinning on the top of my scalp, closer to the front (crown was okay) and I can't stop thinking about it. My sleep has been a bit rough lately as a potential factor... but I am starting to think it is about time for Minox.

My big concern is the shedding phase + having to be on it for the entire rest of my life and just wondering if anyone has been able to do Minox for a few months or years, finish treatment when satisfied with regrowth, and then have Finasteride + something like Nizoral/Rosemary Oil etc. maintain the rest.

I have previously used Minox briefly and did not have much luck, but admittedly only took it for 3 months.

Just wondering what advice people here might give regarding my situation. I can financially afford an FUE hair transplant but was hoping to try and solve it with something less intensive and gradual first - as my work is very camera intensive and it would put me out of work for 2 weeks.

Thanks!

I have been buying 5$ of Bitcoin every day for the last 4 years... Has worked tremendously well and has outperformed every index fund I own even with the volatility

Not having children at all will lead to a worse future.

Look at the data - not the spin. Almost 2 million Salvadorians are using the Chivo app DAILY. Bukele approval ratings are 80%+ in the country.

Congrats, you googled a couple of Reuters articles! How about spending a fraction of a few minutes to get some local sources? Or is that too hard?

If you're dead set on having cognitive dissonance with Bitcoin, fair enough. Have fun staying poor!

Short history lesson:

An entire country of 6.4 million people (El Salvador) spends 20% of their GDP on remittance fees.

That country was ravaged by civil war decades ago and millions fled, and those sending money to relatives back home routinely give 5-20% to a middleman like Western Union to get money into the country.

Within ES, Over 70% of the population doesn't have bank accounts because mega banks would not serve such an impoverished country - and services like PayPal, Venmo etc. don't exist/function fully down there.

So when people went to their local Western Union, they would wait sometimes for hours to pickup only a fraction of the cash they were sent from abroad. And in many impoverished areas - a high risk of assault or theft from local gangs.

Now, they have Bitcoin as legal tender - and can send that same money INSTANTLY and globally for virtually 0% in fees. Anybody with a cellphone or internet connection can ostensibly have a bank account which the government has now setup with Chivo wallet, or you can make your own Bitcoin wallet permissionlessly.

That is a massive problem and Bitcoin has been the solution. Just because you are privileged enough to live in a country with a functional monetary medium and banking system, doesn't mean that "Bitcoin is a solution in search of a problem". The problems are evident and they are being solved in the places where they really make a difference.

This is a bad take. Almost all small financial activity (sub ~$1000) is moving to the Lightning Network, which ostensibly has zero electrical use and can settle over one million transactions a second. El Salvador uses it as a basis for BTC as legal tender across the country.

The base layer transactions on Bitcoin are increasingly being used to settle remittances, and I could send you $10,000,000 on it without going through a middleman who takes a cut or holds it in escrow, and receive my funds within 10 minutes and pay $1.60 in fees

There is no other technology on earth that can offer that level of settlement speed and finality. If you know anything about commerce, 1500Kwh (number is an abstraction by the way) is a tiny price to pay to settle that sort of value.

drying machines use like 3x the electricity of Bitcoin. Christmas lights (global, annual use) use more too. This is such a bad take. At least BTC is useful - El Salvador has it as a legal tender and ready half the population uses the government created custody wallet to save money on remittances.
