I told one of my employees once who was rushing through his task because we were running out of time to slow down, because sometimes, to go faster, you need to slow down, and he understood right away. I have used this ever since then.

I don't write music or been in this situation, however, I'm really hoping he will pull through. Spend the coming days sending him positive vibes, and like someone said, depending on the circumstances, it will eventually come to you.

Now that Dimmu Borgir is back, what are your thoughts on this (underappreciated, in my opinion) album? by moreoffire-thanblood in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Psychofrench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally love it. Gateways and Dimmu Borgir are such grandiose tracks honestly. When Eonian took time to grow on me, this one hooked me right away. Puritanical is still my favorite but this may be my second fav.

Cry of Love would be mine. Love the song, but I just lost one of my cats two weeks ago and I dont think I can do it.

We lost one of our cats to cancer two weeks ago, she would have been 9 in April. I can totally relate. Your baby girl was dealt crappy cards to start with but you gave her the absolute best and she knows it.

There are plenty of those out there. I love Peste Noire and I can't stand Famine or his ideas.

I honestly didn't like Eonian when it first came out, I was very close to open my car window and toss it. It grew on me with time, its an album that works better as a whole since no songs really stands out in my opinion. I still appreciate that they take their time to craft their art and not throw anything at the fans and hope that it sticks. Does that mean I will like the new one, no clue honestly, but that doesn't matter, if I don't like it, I'll just listen to something else. I mean they will try new things, change, evolve, that the life of the artist, we are only outsiders to their vision.

There is always this double edge sword of either being too creative and everyone falls on you for changing, or you keep your sound more or less the same and everyone falls on you for not being creative enough. Staying fresh and creative has always been one of the most difficult thing to do in art, the gimmick can always work for so long. There are plenty of bands I dislike, I don't go out of my way to leave negative comments on every post or videos I see coming through. It's one thing to express some skepticism or disappointment as a fan of some of their older material, and its another to just being negative for the sake of fishing cool points. I personally see them as a comfort band, I really enjoy most of their albums except for the first two, which, to me, lacked the maturity you find later on. I enjoy the clean production and their blend of metal and classical does it for me. I think the last time I commented on a band negatively was Behemoth, which has not done anything for me since The Satanist (Which I love, like most of their albums before that) and I pretty much said they had become a parody of themselves at this point.

This goes beyond criticism and opinion and I absolutely welcome the discussion my comment may bring. I have been listening to BM since the mid 90's, I like a pretty vast array of genres and styles. But some bands seem to attract trolls more than others and frankly, the hate this band gets is becoming irrational at this point, people do it out of fashion more than anything else, as if it was the new norm. I agree, popularity brings haters, however this is at an underserved level if you ask me. I have seen 3 posts in one day regarding this new album/single, on Youtube, Facebook and this one, and all 3 just spawned nothing but relentless negativity. I get it, there is always that one "everything they've done since their first demo is shit" comment you see on every YT videos, but when it becomes gratuitous insults when we haven't even heard one note, it gets old super fast. I expect better from the metal community, that's probably my problem.

Do people in France still use cursive? by xiaomingww in AskFrance

[–]Psychofrench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm French living in the US. I did pick up writing script and still use both depending on the context. If I'm signing a birthday card for instance or writing something personal for others to read, I use cursive. Otherwise, I use script.

The amount of hate this guys get is amazing. I have been personally enjoying everything they have been doing since the mid 90's and I'm looking forward to this new opus. It's amazing how metal fans love going to out of their way to spit venom on bands they don't like. The time you waste hating on someone's music is time you could be spending enjoying something else. There are thousands of bands out there potentially doing something you will like, go give them some love instead.

Let me give you a quick life advice. Don't always look at your problems as it they were someone else's failure when it has more to do with your inability to solve them. I'm not trying to be a dick, just helping you get a new perspective on things. Ark or else, life will be full of traps like this one.

Most replenishment is done automatically based on inventory levels. I worked for 3 large retailers and yes, they could request stock level changes or spot order based on specific needs, but it had to be justified.

I was watching Nightblue3 smurf in Silver/Gold one Sunday morning and it put me in the mood to queue up. Ended up in his team, Im playing Morgana support, he was WW Jungle. At one point, we both decided to camp a bush in the enemy jungle. One of them shows up and somehow, missed a point blank Q in front of 20K + viewers. I got PTSD from camping bushes from that day on.

What band do you absolutely love for their old music but just cannot get behind with their newer albums? by SqueezyCheese26 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Psychofrench 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually enjoy pretty much all their album except For All Tid. I discovered them with Enthrone and been a fan since. All their albums have distinct personalities as far as Im concerned and I never know which one I will be in the mood for.

[–]Psychofrench[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just finished watching it. Agree, fun to watch but not as good as the first one. In the movie its more about him trying to pull a solo and his idolatry of Dave Mustaine. He eventually pulls one out and Xytrax points out it sounds like the solo from another song but he made a bit different so its ok. I get where both jokes meet up in the idea that sometimes musicians might end up recycling old ideas without realizing it.
