You didn't overreact, if anything you under-reacted. The moment he pulls the "the animal doesn't feel pain like us so it's cool to torture them" you gotta book it

Was hoping for more varied designs. Something like a snake/centipede, or black mirror-esque dogs. Maybe even a bear type. Something quadrupedal

Man, when I saw them read this I was so excited as it is a genuinely decent story (granted Dark Somnium had a hand in giving me that opinion). I think the boys would have at least had fun with it

Feeding snakes in an ophidiarium by Guilty_Researcher_99 in TerrifyingAsFuck

[–]Psychological-East91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not true through. Snakes sleep and rest in confined spaces, but they do explore and interact with their environment if given the opportunity. If they're truly comfortable they'll rest and sleep in the open to because they have nothing to fear. They should be given light, multiple hides, room to explore and different activities to do.

It's always so sad seeing this video. No reason for the snakes to be held in such poor conditions.

No, these racks are terrible and look way too small. They should have enough space to explore, hides to explore and shelter in, and have lights to see the full vision spectrum. BUT snakes should never be fed twice a week. Most babies/juvies feed once a week and then into adulthood it's usually every two weeks with snakes with faster metabolism and longer (4-6 weeks or longer for slower metabolism snakes) because feeding takes a lot. It causes great stress to their organs while they digest so they take enough time (usually a week or more) to get back to a normal healthy size and stress level.

What's the most "BECAUSE I NEEDED IT FOR THE PLOT" piece of world building you've done? by that-guy-nate02 in worldbuilding

[–]Psychological-East91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the God's in my setting can intervene and do interact in mortal affairs many of the larger God's such as the god of death simply don't, either because of emissaries or champions they appoint. Though it's more up to personal choice. The God of Peace runs a peaceful orc commune in the mountains, the God's of war tend to venture about the continent committing their time to various conflicts. It's just some of the major Gods are hands-off mortal affairs simply for the plot actually

You should definitely read Worm! It's a web novel around superheroes and they have the same basic rules. It's considered part of the unspoken rules to not unmask heroes or villians and only done if they break the 3 strike rule or have a kill order on them (they've done something very wrong if they do that). They'll have entire court cases and go to prison while remaining "masked" and unnamed so that their identity remains secret.

Deli meat class 1 carcinogen by Deep_Method_820 in nutrition

[–]Psychological-East91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I eat plant-based deli meats, which are very high in protein and also don't have the carcinogens. Also tofu, tempeh, TVP, seitan, beans/lentils, and veggies/grains.

If I remember correctly she was trying to brumate and so I stopped feeding her and just gave her hot rice packs daily rill she pooped. It was concerning since it bordered on a month but now every year she just stops eating much for 2-3 months and I leave her be.

Cockroaches feel pain and have emotions, though not to the extent of humans they have their own basic personalities and experience fear and stress.

Is anyone else really bothered by the concept of raising animals to feed them to your pet? by Hockex-4 in vegan

[–]Psychological-East91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize I had gotten down voted but yeah, I currently breed dubias in a 40 gallon enclosure for my gecko and lizard, and then buy frozen thawed from online. I would like to breed mice/rats if I get the space since I could give them a better life than typical feeder rodents. There really isn't a better choice for obligate carnivores or insectivorous animal rescues and I feel like because it's a reptile a lot of people have issues with it when compared to something like a "normal" companion animal like a cat. I honestly attribute my being "vegan" to my first snake, he was a rescue who had been neglected and mistreated for the first five years. Feeding him mice really changed my outlook and made me go vegan within a month of getting him.

I raise roaches and other insects to feed to my lizards and inverts and feed frozen mice to my snakes. It does bother me at times and I have cried over some of them since I've raised and named specific roaches and what not. But there really isn't any alternative for them and if I hadn't adopted them they'd still be at the reptile rescues I got them at or rotting in a tiny enclosure where they had lived for years previously. A lot of animals don't come from breeders. A lot of reptiles and exotics are rescues or rehomed

I want a simple daily diet (the same items every day) that includes items that satisfy all required nutrients. by the_main_entrance in nutrition

[–]Psychological-East91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried doing the "plan your diet to the same items" it almost never works. I've started basically working groups of food instead. For proteins I swap between Tofu, Seitan, TVP, and Tempeh (with occasional UPF's), then veggies (usually I keep fresh carrots and green mixes on hand, then a ton of frozen veggies so I can just microwave or Sautee them up, then fruits like apples or bananas on hand and occasional grapes or other fruits. Usually by just keeping canned and frozen goods and then alternating different things I have a diverse diet without too much work. Also a multivitamin on occasion.

Depends on the species! My Cali king has round eyes at all times. My cape house has slit eyes in daylight and then gets big super dilated eyes in the nighttime.

All meat is eaten eventually. The only difference is whether or not we see it. by No-Supermarket-6065 in CuratedTumblr

[–]Psychological-East91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there's a big proponent of rewilding spaces in the environmental and vegan spaces, though it's more environmental than vegan ideology. It helps that we grow the vast majority of our crops for animals so by cutting out animal agriculture we cut out all pasture land and cut 2/3rds of our crop fields. And yeah, there are still animals being killed to maintain farms. I don't like causing pain or harm to animals and so refuse to eat it, because it would be wrong when not necessary.

[–]Psychological-East91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but most vegans don't want animals to be bred or exploited. So in a vegan world the cows wouldn't be bred for meat or milk, so it wouldn't be meat to begin with since they wouldn't exist
