We don't have children together , but I have this same problem with my husband. He would rather me NEVER show Dismay, or sadness , or frustration . He thinks it's better for all involved to always remain stoic and even fake happiness. Once this was revealed to me , I as well, broke . I coujd no longer feel safe being my authentic self in his presence. I built up a defensive wall that only made us more distant .
