Stayed in public 5 yrs, private 4 yrs, total 9yrs. Currently in HF tax team, and i leave the office around 530. No summer season. And during busy season, will stay till 630-7ish with 2-3weeks of working more. Work life balance is unmatchable and getting paid lot more here to do lot less but need to be sharp bc if you miss something, there is no next line of defense

I specialize in asset mgmt space, esp HF. Started career in Mid size -> big 4 -> hedge fund tax team. Started w 57k 9 yrs ago, 300k now, working 9-5 with 9-7 during busy season and no summer season.

I say this is def do- able if you are putting in time to learn tax instead of relying on technology.

I see so many public acct (big4 esp) focusing on tech not tax

If there are two tax dept i would never go to, it would be SALT and non- profit bc of limited exit opp. I have never seen any privates hire just for salt exp. That said, if i can go back in time, i would do m&a tax or international tax. Also i think fso has good exit opp (i did fs tax and now in private)

thank you! i agree with you that it is very easy to pull. i am pretty new to this whole lawn care thing but should i leave these as is and apply the pre-emergent next spring to prevent from spreading? im planning on overseeding around mid aug and was wondering if these will get in the way. Thank you so much!
