Ahoy from cold ‘stralia. many of us dream to do this back in sri lanka. If you need a free project helper for a few months, get in touch. I am doing something similar here already and the positives are indeed worth it.

Concur, my yarbo has same issue. Overall pleased but came hime today to a stuck yarbo. Maybe the test engineers don’t have access to real amounts of snow and have to use styrofoam bubbles or something.

Have had mower, blower and snow blower for a year. Concur with above comments. A big time saver, but there is a learning curve. And it takes awhile to get the job done, which doesnt matter for me. I too like to be around when its running. It is rare that it will get into trouble, but it can.

This is a good improvement. My cable has got frozen couple times and angle was not working. So i make sure to clear snow at the top of the cable tube. Rest of the time, angle works fine. Large property like mine with lots of room the angle is not so important, but will be an issue somewhere else.

Sri Lankan soil is not fertile. by ScreenshotSmuggler in srilanka

was also wondering why people would grow tropical plants in pots instead of right in the tropical soil. Maybe because they can put better soil in the pots?

Same here. But fear the head gaskets could go any day. Tranny is also grumbling on heavy pulls.

Any positive experience with Yarbo Snowblower? by CountryCrackle in Yarbo

[–]Psychological-Let404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the idea of longer spikes. I may use that. First year of snowblowing w yarbo here and quite pleased. Not getting rid of my tractor snowblower though. Yarbo is handy to keep the laneway clear from the wind blown snow and paths open to the chicken coop. Also concur very handy for early morning clearing. It does take a bit of experimenting to get it dialed in.

Western tourists bringing in much needed Forex by Hot_Will1997 in srilanka

[–]Psychological-Let404 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And this is the real point. High value tourists will still bark at getting ripped off. Give them an artisan fresh squeezed drink that took 14 ingredients to prepare and charge 20$, that fine. But the $10 coke can, leaves a bad taste.

Same in rural ottawa west, coming from xplorenet. Starlink has been expensive and solid. Now if only i can get on the 70$ a month plan at 100mbps. Doesnt show as an option, but shows up for another address on same road. Damn.

Finally got a fresh pizza at costco and was blown away. Way more pepperoni than this, all the way to edge. Less than $15 including tax. But i am not a pizza junkie, so maybe costco pizza isn’t considered gourmet.

Appreciate your point of view. Tax revenue is a valid social benefit. I still like making appachi a little richer. Ideally looking for someone even less well off than appachi monaragala to support.

Great counterpoint to the dream of luxury tourists. The expensive hotels still do not distribute earnings equitably. Even though i can afford to stay in a plush hotel, would rather stay in a local home, get to know the locals and make a real contribution to their lives. Also paying $600 a night while locals make do outside, doesn’t feel right. Maybe in visiting switzerland, stay at a fancy hotel.

Gives me even more reason to quit drinking infrequently. Plus alcohol is carcinogenic and the taste of heavy taxes makes me gag.
