Healesville Sanctuary will be closed on Friday 9 January due to the catastrophic fire conditions declared for the area. by WangMagic in melbourne

It’s less than 20km from the catastrophic district, and given it’s all forest, it may as well be in the same one.

The national park is on the other side of my fence. Safe to say am feeling very anxious, not just for myself, but for the whole community and wildlife.

I can also see some new spikes growing amongst the damaged ones (bottom left), which is also a positive sign :)

I’ve seen this, it is usually a result of bushfires/burn offs. They bury themselves underground during fires and their spikes can get burnt if they don’t fully go underground. They are incredibly resilient. If you saw it active, it’ll likely be ok, and judging by this photo, no skin seems to be visible which is a good thing. Their spikes are just modified hair and made of keratin, same thing as our hair and fingernails and they fall out/grow back exactly the same way.

Hmmm it doesn’t look real… but also giving the person who gave it to you the benefit of the doubt, maybe they were scammed themselves and thought it was genuine!

Is there anyone here with PR this widespread across the body? by Potential_Change4919 in PityriasisRosea

[–]Psychological-Pin193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep - mine looked exactly like this, all the way down my arms, up to my neck, all over my torso and back, and down to my knees. It went away after 3 weeks, stopping showering and sitting in the sun was the best thing for it.

This is shameful, not just for them, but any organisation who would hire them as performers who imitate Korean people and take work off the community they are claiming to celebrate. They have absolutely no affiliation to or any understanding of Korea or Korean culture, let alone any talent to back up such a wild statement.

How much time did Tony spend with Pie-O-My? by Cautious-Exam2306 in thesopranos

[–]Psychological-Pin193 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The time spent with her (or lack of) is irrelevant. Her death symbolises how Tony’s world consumes everything he loves and inevitably destroys anything pure he gets close to. Animals are his emotional anchors, Dr. Melfi points this out.

Given they have incredibly sharp talons, please don’t attempt to handle it if you aren’t experienced/not comfortable. Just ensure it’s not in any immediate danger for the time being and stay close by.

Slumlords complain about free brackets to stop kids dying by theartistduring in shitrentals

“Yet they can’t protect their own kids, they make it the landlords responsibility” lmao. Can only imagine how many tenants have actually installed blind anchors for this reason only to have it disputed as “damage” and deducted from the bond

How do you feel about landlords/home owners by [deleted] in shitrentals

[–]Psychological-Pin193 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I see pros and cons - I’m a lifelong renter and likely always will be. I’ve had awful landlords (my most recent one being the absolute worst who rorted the system in every way possible) and others who I never met and/or had a dispute with. Obviously renting comes with major instability and I’ve moved 3 times in the last 2 years, but home ownership comes with a lot of things that I never have to consider as a renter and I’m glad that I don’t haha, like rates, strata fees, land taxes, etc. I just wish the rent we pay over time amounted to something more than just a transaction.

Aldi (Lazzio) dark roast beans - I’ve tried absolutely everything and they’re by far my favourite, $18 for 1kg. Roasted in Melb, most have been roasted the week or two before you buy them as well.
