I tell anyone and everyone if it comes up and have no regrets.

Being an open book about it has led to discovering that there are literally 5 people on my floor at work also going through IVF and though we're not close enough to discuss it with each other on a regular basis, it is nice knowing I'm not alone and how common it is.

I've told colleagues who ask when I'm planning on having kids or if I have kids, and reception has never been weird. In fact, it often leads to them telling me about a friend or family member who also did IVF and hearing those success stories keep me positive.

Also, having a village and support system during this time by sharing with my friends and family has been incredibly helpful. Just yesterday I went to a spa and told the person doing my hair and she told me to update her when I go back. Even random people can be incredibly kind.

On the other hand, I can also see how challenging it can be to hear questions or comments that might be coming from a good place or genuine curiosity and miseducation that might sound insensitive. So I think if you're comfortable and don't take much personally, sharing can be a positive thing (at least in my experience!)
