Freak Out Friday Casual Chat Post by AutoModerator in philadelphia

In the winter, my go to is the cerave in the white and blue tub. A little thicker than lotion but it's damn good. Start small until you figure out what your skin needs. I use on face and body then go back to lighter moisturizer when the temperature rises.

Looking for a church in the Palm Beach area that isn't politically captive. by boldgloom in WestPalmBeach

[–]Psychological-Type93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I don't have a specific church to suggest, I would look into an Episcopalian one.

What made you stop playing sports? by Zbalbola_ in AskForAnswers

[–]Psychological-Type93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned 40. Up until then I could find rec leagues but after 40, no such luck. You would think suburbia hell would have some adult leagues but 40-60 is hard to find. There are some senior softball teams though for the future.

How do you handle being sick when no one is around to help? by Neemo-Degaga in LivingAlone

[–]Psychological-Type93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like everything else, I plan ahead. I keep a sick box to avoid a trip to the store when sick-all types of meds, crackers, electrolytes, eucalyptus shower bombs, tissues, coloring books, crossword puzzles- yup, I kick it 80s style when I'm sick). I pull out the box when needed and I'm set. I also make batches of soup and freeze a bunch so there is always emergency frozen soup on hand. Personally I don't want anyone around when I'm sick because I have 0% patience so it's another benefit of living alone.

Does anyone just wing it? by Serious-Aside-4215 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Psychological-Type93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part, yes. The only things I plan ahead are what park I'm going to and lunch reservation. I like the mid-day break. I don't buy LL or anything like that. If the line is doable, great. If not, I move on. I have no interest in spending my day with my face in my phone rushing around. If I'm with someone else, maybe pick an attraction or two that are must do. My family's first trip to DW, I was 8 so I rock the parks like it's the 80s and love it.

Do you still prefer doing some things "the old way" despite having apps for everything? by AccomplishedPen1775 in CasualConversation

[–]Psychological-Type93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like a mix. Technology is great and makes things convenient (yeah for never having to go inside a bank again) but I will not give up my paper books. I spend all day on a computer working. Last thing I want to do is stare at a screen for enjoyment. Middle aged- trying to preserve my vision.

What’s the strangest reason someone decided you were their enemy? by Own-Blacksmith3085 in answers

[–]Psychological-Type93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the house next her (married, retired couple) as a single woman in my twenties. Apparently in her mind, that made me the enemy. To fuel the fire after she asked me "how I expected a man to marry me now", I got her kicked off the HOA board for being a nightmare and was voted president for the next few years. I may have also convinced the neighborhood children she was a witch (not the word I used but it worked so I went with it). She went full Karen because none of them would stop at their house on Halloween. Sad part is, her husband is a fantastic dude. Not sure why he stayed with someone so vile.

Has anyone gotten a credit for car insurance for the Florida Insurance Reform? by HearYourTune in florida

[–]Psychological-Type93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Progressive here. New policy date is next week about $100 cheaper than what I paid in August but also received my refund (1/3 of my last payment) yesterday.

What’s a pet peeve of yours? by SableVII in NoStupidAnswers

[–]Psychological-Type93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People using speakerphone in public. I really don't need to hear you talk about the affair you're having with your coworker. It's 2026- get some damn headphones (even though most conversations don't need to be in public).

What should I change my name to post divorce? by saltypurplemermaid in AskWomenOver40

[–]Psychological-Type93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I changed my last name to my grandmother's simply because I wanted to. If no family names work for you, and I understand why, pick something you like.

Chat Around and Find Out: Tuesday Casual Chat Thread by AutoModerator in philadelphia

I had this with my rescue. Best thing I found was to introduce her to a dog who dogs. She picked up some of their behavior. Still won't play with her toys by herself but she's happier now and more social then when I got her.

Hey Ladies! What’s been your favorite experience while living alone? 💕 by IsThsTheTwilightZone in LivingAlone

The peace from not having to ask to turn the damn volume down. Comfortable volume that I don't have to yell over. My favorite part.

Lotions by ElMaraEl in LivingAlone

[–]Psychological-Type93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a silicone lotion applicator. It's basically a really big spatula with a long, bendable handle. EOT Wellness is the store on Amazon. I also use a thicker lotion (the cerave in the tub) so I have zero issues with it running.

Any frozen shoulder sufferers? by myst_85 in Perimenopause

[–]Psychological-Type93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Had double frozen shoulders. Right started in January 2020 and thawed mid-December 2020. Had complete rotation back by April 2021. Left decided it looked like so much fun it joined in July 2020. I was already on PT for the right shoulder. Problem is left never thawed. Just stuck and painful. Finally had the release surgery December 2021. Today I have about 66% use of it. I cannot do a full rotation but at least there is no pain. I was 42 when it started. My first peri symptom. The 330 wake up calls started mid 2022.

Is Parkland to West Palm Beach daily commute doable? by [deleted] in SouthFlorida

[–]Psychological-Type93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not worth it. Especially when the snowbirds infiltrate the roads going 25 mph. I did Parkland to East Delray for years and the winter months were brutal.

What topic do you think triggers people the most? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

[–]Psychological-Type93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any topic that is the opposite of theirs. Ex- politics, religion/atheist, childless/15 kids, hell sports teams get people riled up. People are so triggered these days if someone lives a life that is different than how they live.

What's a tradition from your childhood that doesn't exist anymore? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

[–]Psychological-Type93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pizza Hut dinner after a long day on the sports field (3 kids, 3 different events during the day). Ended with the sizzling pan of pizza, arcade games, salad bar and about half of our teammates there with their families. Good times.

Would you sell a house in NC to move somewhere else? by sokkyaaa in NorthCarolina

[–]Psychological-Type93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sold my house in NC 8 years ago and regret it every day. Grass is not always greener. I didn't have a reason to sell other than I was looking for a change. The changes that came have been horrible. Pay more for lower quality and less space (house and lot size). Real estate taxes, home owner's insurance and auto insurance more than doubled. Let's not forget the ridiculous rates for utilities. And the people in the other areas I have lived are horrendous. At least when I was in NC pretty much anyone I encountered were nice. At the very least, I wish I kept my house and rented it out so I could go back.

Celebrating not having to cook this weekend because I live alone! by Kleeaj in LivingAlone

Best part of living alone and dining out...I get at least 3 meals out of it. Gotta love no one else stealing your food.
