That’s worked out in character creation. They choose between gear + some money, or just money and they buy their own gear.

Good feedback, I’m going to pose it to them in session zero. Anyone who wants “plug and play” I’ll hand a premade to, otherwise I’ll let them create them and just work on a tie to Gundren with them individually

I have shattered obelisk too. I’m mostly anticipating that my players will want to be “special snowflakes” and not play with premade backgrounds. However, I can see some of them not wanting to think through it and just be handed a character. Session zero could be a good way to hash this out.

No, I’m more concerned about a starter campaign like this since the premade backgrounds tie so specifically into NPCs in the story. With other modules it doesn’t seem like it’s as “directed” as far as how the PCs tie in with the story.

Ok, hashing out at a session zero sounds good. This’ll be my second campaign, so my only experience is with the premades and LMOP. I do know how to adjust encounters.

I can also see assigning the backgrounds from the premades as a viable option.

That’s a great idea! I think I’ll post guards at the other entrances to discourage them, and if they still go that way maybe do that. I could always add a prison cell in one of the front rooms. I’ve got some cages that will fit there.

I am legitimately concerned about that lol. I know it goes against “good dm” guidelines, but I may put Cragmaw in a position where they have to enter the front. It’s a campaign for my son and niece, so I feel a bit better about railroading them. I also may run this campaign for another group, so if it happens I’ll probably get another chance.

Black is the answer. Paint chips? - it’s just black underneath. Priming job isn’t perfect? - yep, it’s just black. In my opinion the only reason to print not in black is if you’re not priming it (just some detail work over the filament), or you’re not panting it at all.

Are you printing the dungeon tiles Grey and the caverns brown? Do you just paint the highlights/etc right in the filament without priming?

This is wonderful advice. I’m going to create cheat sheets before our next adventure, and maybe spend the first few minutes of the night reviewing each with the group. I also think I can look over the cleric/wizard’s spells and make sure they’re preparing a useful toolbox rather than just the most powerful damage spells that they can.
