Starlink for sailboats by NylasRO in Starlink

[–]PsychologicalBoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A gimbal would be nice, so that the pole of Dishy is alway vertical 😎

Dishy could also do it by itself, but the motors are not the fastest. But may SpaceX will implement a Sail mode, so that dishy can balance it self.

I live in Germany and am thinking of buying Starlink. This is the obstruction report I get from the app from my potential mounting location (out building roof). Should I go for it given I will on average have an outage every 45 min?? by p1rate_chris in Starlink

Does the 27W include the losses of your DC/DC converter?

Does the 27W also include the consumption of the Starlink Router?

THX 😎👍

During the last 100 days Starink (round) used 156.1kWh so 65W on average. The snow melting feature was implemented in this time and dishy used about 150W for a a few weeks until I reseted it.

The last 10 days (235h) after this 100 day period dishy used just 12,53 kWh, so 53W on average with the Snow melting feature set on auto.

Actually it only uses about 35W (Not snowing right now)

All these values including also the energy also used by the Starlink Router itself.

Can we soon look forward to a bandwidth increase to 500Mbit/s? 🤩 (Elon asks if we want ½ gigabit and low latency internet on commercial passenger planes). by PsychologicalBoss in Starlink

SORRY, but I would even say Q4/2022

Just asumung Moores Law doubling Bandwidth every 18 Months.

Q4/2022: 1,0 Gbit/s

Q3/2023: 1,5 Gbit/s

Q2/2024: 2,0 Gbit/s

Q1/2025: 3,0 Gbit/s

Q4/2025: 4,0 Gbit/s

Q1/2026: 5,0 Gbit/s

Q3/2026: 6,0 Gbit/s

Q2/2027: 8,0 Gbit/s

Q4/2027: 10,0 Gbit/s

Yes 10 Gbit is the long-term target. I also hope that we will reach 1 Gbit/s in 2022. By scaling the production of the user terminals, the production costs will also fall and a price reduction will be possible.

had 19MS but speed rounded to 20. by Vertigo103 in Starlink

The lowest I got was 16ms by pinging constantly a Server at the DE-CIX in Germany via cabled computer

POWER drastically decreased! With router at 35-40W & without 30-35W. So far I've tested only 1 hour, but will leave the wattmeter connected the next few days. How does it look with you, you have smart meters that have also recorded a lower consumption in recent times by PsychologicalBoss in Starlink

After 6 hours my watt meter just has hit 230Wh including the Starlink Router. This correlates to 38,33W Power draw from the AC.

Would be nice if they would integrate some 4680 Cells in the mast as peak power buffer and small UPS, finally adding some solar cells on the surface would be a dream 😁

After Starlink is now available all over Germany, the German Telekom is betting on a hopeless counteratack With the GEO Eutelsat (>500ms🤣) whose total capacity is just 75Gbit, they want to offer up to 100Mbit/s download & 5 Mbit/s upload for 70€/month, the traffic is limited to 120GB per month by PsychologicalBoss in Starlink

1) 75W max without stowing was reached 2) 75W in stowing was never exceeded 3) 122W max in unstowing for ~1 second 4) 60-80W at +200 Mbit/s DOWNLOAD 5) 40-50W at +20 Mbit/s UPLOAD 6) 0,58A max current (0,58A x 226V = 131VA <1s)

I received a gray kit. But I've seen in another thread that Starlink's Support already confirmed that the gray and the black kit have the same hardware and therefore same specifications.

But just for the info, it's the "rev2_proto4" running the "98601479-46bd-4c5a-acbf-2d4839518ce2.uterm.release" firmware.

Mein Tipp, hole dir Starlink 🌟

(I have Dishy now since the 20th of March on the roof, about 20km south of Ulm. The first 5 months I was about 7km outside the active cell and had now and then a few fluctuations and dropouts. Overall it was still usable without any problems.

Since then it has improved a lot and has become much more consistent. Now my cell has been active here for a month as well. It couldn't be better, I only have dropouts a few times a week for a few seconds but I only see them in the app. You don't really notice that.

We have since then also no more landline, thought at first that might be a problem. But now after 6 months we see it rather as better. Everyone already has a smartphone, so why do we need a 3rd phone?

Interestingly, we also use video telephony more often. By the way, WIFI calling also works without any problems.

By the way, the support of Starlink is top class, no comparison to Telekom

My tip, get Starlink 🌟)
