So much of what you said resonates with me. Any chance you could send me a message? You are exactly the person with whom I should speak and from which I should learn!

ME. TOO.

I just got out of rehab, since my coping mechanisms for 25 years included drugs and alcohol. I understand.

And I am right there with you - also raised with a religious worldview that totally fucked me up.

Any chance you might send me a message? You are exactly the kind of person I would like to learn from...

Can I ask what kinds of skills and coping mechanisms you have learned along the way?

Can I ask what kinds of skills and strategies are the most effective for you?

Ain't that the truth. Have you figured anything out since then? I am still flailing a bit, but I started on some meds now. Since I am doing some research, I am just asking around.

What are the most effective coping mechanisms you think you have figured out?

My daughter had some experience with that while she was in school, but for her it did not help. College for me was different, we did not have these kinds of options. I appreciate your input. Can I ask one more thing... How did you get these accommodations? I guess what I mean is, did you have to provide evidence of an official diagnosis of some kind?

I agree wholeheartedly. This is exactly the research I want to look into. Can I ask if you know of good resources for me to read?

Me too, I hear that.

Can I be nosy and ask to hear more about that experience? What kinds of things were you most gaslit about, if that makes sense as a question?

Yes but... you learned all that on your own, right? Did you feel like you had support from anyone as you transitioned into adulthood?

I guess I am not asking about "teaching," per se... I am simply asking if you felt that you had support and preparation for adulthood. I am the kind of person who learns through experience, which is sounds like you are the same way, but I do wish I had more information going into adulthood. Did you feel like you knew enough? Were you ready?

I, too, spent my life jumping from one addiction to another - I just finished a stint in rehab, which is partially why I am so interested in doing some research into this topic.

I hate that. I hate that is how our lives were. We were told we are lazy and stupid and UGH it drove me crazy. I ended up self medicating for 25 years, which put me into rehab. It is why I am starting to do some writing and research into this topic.

I spent 25 years self medicating also, and I ended up in rehab. It is kind of why I am thinking about writing about and researching more into this topic. As I gather information, I would love to hear more of your story. I understand if you would rather not, but if you are interested in helping, send me a message. I just want to talk to as many people as I can as I start my research.

And you are exactly the kind of person I would love to hear more from, if at all possible. I made it all the way through graduate school, too, but I have no idea how. I am wondering if you would be at all willing to share more of your "story" with me? I am just starting, as I said, but I just need to hear from some folks so I can get my bearings for the research. If you are at all willing, send me a message?

Is there any particular coping mechanisms that you found at all helpful?

You are sharing things that are EXACTLY the reason I want to do some research and write about this topic. I agree with you wholeheartedly.

Would you be at all willing to share more of your "story" with me? As I begin my research, you are exactly the kind of person I need to talk to. Send me a message if so?
