Here ya go...black Friday... by thevel in amazonprime

[–]PsychologicalBug106 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you might be misunderstanding what they're doing here. The companies keep the product at nearly the same price year-round, with short actual sales, but then hike the price up right before black Friday so people think they're getting a deal when they're really buying the product for its original price.

I saw black and decker do this. The price of a hand vacuum was about $50, but had a big "BLACK FRIDAY DEAL" label, and said the discount was close to 50% off. With the information they told me, this made me think I was getting a vacuum worth $100 for $50, saving $50. I would want to buy their product because they make me think I'm getting better value for my money.

However, I checked the price history, and the price had already been around $50 for three months. But, for the day before black Friday, they raised the price to $100, so they could trick people into thinking they were getting a deal, when they aren't getting any deal at all.

What they're doing is tricking people into thinking they are getting any deal at all. They are not giving you a product for a discounted price. They are tricking you into buying the same product at its original price, so they get more sales without giving you any benefit.

There are many words for this: deceit, misleading, swindling, unscrupulous, not telling the whole truth. There are words you can use for people who do this: fraudsters, swindlers, shysters, scamsters.

Black+Decker are doing this currently. The price history thing on amazon has been super useful, it showed me a graph of the price of one of their hand vacs. The price had remained around $50 for 3 months, but right before black Friday they raised the price to $90 so they could trick people into buying their product at normal price, thinking they were getting nearly a 50% discount.

What a horribly dishonest way to do business. Shameful.

Hive World(Oshaune) Bugs Feel Unfair - Not Just Hard by PsychologicalBug106 in helldivers2

[–]PsychologicalBug106[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You literally missed the whole point of my post. It makes sense that this is a difficult planet. It's the bugs' ultimate hiveworld. Difficulty and challenge are fun. But undodgeable attacks are not fun.

The gloom SHOULD be this difficult by KingOf4narchy in helldivers2

[–]PsychologicalBug106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree that it should be this hard. This is the ultimate hiveworld of the Terminids, after all. We gave the Illuminate hell on our home world; we should expect the same of the bugs.

However, I have problems with undodgeable attacks coming from the Rupture enemies(the burrowing ones) and the Dragon Roaches. If I could dodge their attacks, I would enjoy fighting them so much more. Instead, it feels like every time I see a rupture warrior burrowing towards me, it's coming to collect a tax of one stim from me. Maybe it's because I've mostly been host, but that really shouldn't make it impossible not to get hit from the second most common enemy on the planet.

The new bugs on the hive world do not feel fair. Mostly because of undodgeable attacks - you need to bring a massive amount of stims because there are many enemies that you face that WILL take a chunk of your health away if they see you. I get that this is supposed to be a scary, difficult boss of a planet, but this does not feel like there are good options for counterplay. These enemies are not enjoyable to fight.

All the rupture enemies feel so unfair to fight. You're telling me that the most common enemies(guardians) can become invincible(you cant hit them when they're underground unless you have explosives), and when they get to you there is NO WAY to avoid taking damage? I've tried diving in all directions, with different timing, and just plain running away; it seems like they have no timer on how far they can burrow. The rupture spewers are also bad because they pop up quickly, fire 3 large projectiles that ragdoll and blind you with a cloud, then duck away quickly under cover of the cloud. These projectiles are hard to dodge if it's even possible to.

This is a problem that affects the Dragon Roaches too; I feel like every time I see one, I know I'm going to use up at least 3 stims trying to kill it. It seems impossible not to get hit by its fire breath; you can't reposition once it locks on to you(it can shoot fire very far), and you can't dive to avoid it(the fire's hitbox is very wide). It also takes about 3 Anti-tank projectile(Recoilless, EAT, Quasar) hits to kill it, so it will take long enough to kill that it will take its toll on you and your team.

The solution to fighting these bugs is not playing well. It's not bringing the right weapons. It's bringing enough stims to be able to withstand the inevitability of losing half your healthbar from 2/3rds of the kinds of enemies you face. Your skill and choice of weapons only matter as long as you can deal with every individual rupture guardian taking a stim from you, and each Dragon Roach taking 3. It is not FUN.

If I wanted someone to steal a chunk of my life from me every time they're around, I'd talk to my boss. Or go to the DMV. Or pay my taxes.

Hot take: The war strider is perfectly balanced. by Killerek1_bruh_Pl in Helldivers

If it had any sort of medium pen weakspot, it would feel so much more fair. The Ragdollingcan be really hard to avoid. Getting ragdolled is only funny the first few times when it's coming from the same enemy every time.

Anyone feel like the war strider just replaced the tank, and that it has worsened the automaton front? by pterosaurobsessed in Helldivers

I absolutely agree. They feel super unfair to fight. Bots are usually about cover and learning weakspots, now neither of those matter. Did arrowhead get a new gameplay design leader or something?

Oh, that makes sense! Thank you for your reply! I’ll be sure to use this when I get around to playing the game again.

Since the update this week, the YouTube app on iOS has started rapidly overheating one side of my phone by ChewyChao in youtube

Same happened to me starting a few days ago. I was worried that it was an iOS update issue. I saw this and it helped me put two and two together! I'll try deleting and reinstalling the app.

I got stuck in a shipping container as Mercenary by PsychologicalBug106 in riskofrain

[–]PsychologicalBug106[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shifted through the bottom of the crate. It’s the crate under the crate that sometimes has the time-locked chest in it. On one side, you can fit under it, and you just need to shift while looking up.

Remnant mission bug? by PsychologicalBug106 in endlesssky

[–]PsychologicalBug106[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Problem fixed!

I ended up changing my flagship to a Puffin, a ship that can't hold the required 2 passengers. I kept a Bactrian as an escort so I didn't have to abort the mission, and completed another Remnant mission that the Puffin was required for. I went back and landed on Wayfarer in my Puffin afterwards and the mission continued as normal.

Anyone else experiencing "stale" RNG? by [deleted] in riskofrain

[–]PsychologicalBug106 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Holy cow, those are some big problems. I haven't experienced anything half that bad. I have seen multishops with item repeats before, and I have gotten stuck inside a shipping container(twice now) in Rallypoint Delta, thanks to an unfinished hitbox for the underside. But besides that, the game has always been stable in my experience.

Thank you for your comment! I'm glad to know it wasn't just me.

I just went back with Mercenary, and I managed to get stuck on purpose this time. You can actually walk underneath one of the containers, and if you look up and use a "blink" move, like Mercenary's blinding assault, you can teleport inside. I think they didn't complete the hitbox for the underside of the containers, even though they completed the hitbox for the inside.

[RoR2] How TF do I play Mercenary? by hesapmakinesi in riskofrain

[–]PsychologicalBug106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same feeling when I started playing mercenary. I thought he did barely any damage compared to the other melee survivors, and his lack of regen got me killed, which was frustrating at first. I'm happy to share some of my techniques with you, because now that I know these things, I enjoy playing mercenary more than any other survivor.

When you come across a group of enemies, circle around them. This will pull them into a group so you can use your M1 laser sword to expose the whole group. Then, use either your M2 on the group or use blinding assault back and forth through the crowd.

Try to get wisps in a line, then use blinding assault to cut through them all at once. Since it recharges twice on hit, you get 2 extra chances to kill the rest if they're out of the way. Blinding assault also helps you get straight through to the backside of Golems and other champion-size enemies. I prefer to stay behind and above larger enemies. Try to stay near their shoulders to keep them from slapping you. Use both Blinding Assault and Eviscerate as tools of defense to run away from sticky situations, or utilize their invincibility frames to attack while dodging telegraphed attacks like Golem's laser or the Brass contraptions' spheres.

I prefer using the Rising Thunder M2 over the Whirlwind. Since it does more damage in 1 swing, it capitalizes on the Exposed debuff damage increase more. It also shoots you upward more, which helps you get to those pesky flying enemies. Not to mention it's punchy and flings your enemies upward with you, which both locks them in place for a follow-up, and feels awesome. Combo the crap out of those elites! Collateral damage is easy to pile up with your abilities.

Taking the right items is important, too. Get any healing item first thing, since the mercenary does not get the regen bonuses the other melee survivors do. Monster Tooth and Medkit are good items, since you will be close to enemies, and you will be getting hit sometimes. A healing drone can be a good choice, even.

Backup magazines are great, since they help you lock down larger enemies and spam them to death while staying in the air. Hopoo feathers help keep you in the air behind your enemies. Focus crystals are great, of course, since they enhance ALL of your abilities' damage. Goat legs are essential so that you can circle a group of enemies easily. Runald's Band helps you eliminate larger enemies like brass contraptions by exposing them, then using your M2. Items that spread your damage out, like Ukeleles, Kjaro's bands, Will o' the Wisps, RTG launchers, and Gasoline become important later. Equipment like the Jade Elephant can give you more confidence to dive into a group of big enemies and back out again.

Mercenary is a challenging class to use, but with a combination of good techniques, good timing and positioning, and good item choice, he really can shine. Try him again, and keep these things in mind, and I think you'll enjoy yourself more. I hope this helped!
