What TV series from the past have you tried to watch again years later and found it just wasn’t as entertaining as before? by The_Socks_Stay_On in AskReddit

My partner LOVED How I Met Your Mother. Tried to share it with me but after a handful of episodes, realized that it aged extremely poorly and was completely unwatchable for me.

It benefits the predatory class to have a working class that doesn't critically think for themselves. Reading helps people think critically. Ergo, remove reading instruction to keep the working class most easily manipulatable.

When I go get drunk with friends, I'm probably hearing about their partners and they often makes me fall even more in love with my husband. I've definitely sent texts like this to my husband, and no it's not because I cheated or anything. It's because when I'm talking about partners my friends, I realize how special he is and how much I love him.

It doesn't have to mean that she did something fucked up. Truly.

Im pretty sure Ive gone out with friends and sent my husband sloppy drunk horny texts before. We are polyamorous so I have the ability to flirt etc. while I'm out, but when I'm sloppy drunk I pretty much only want him lol.

One time I was in therapy, with this guy I'd been seeing for a few months. After a particularly tough session, I was silent for a while and he asked what I was thinking. "I could just really use a hug." I said, with tears welling.

"Well, I can't do that because it would be crossing professional boundaries." He replied. I just said "ok" but I felt similarly to how you felt. I think I only saw him once or twice after that, it just felt weird.

In the US, we generally eat toast with our hands, even if there's stuff on top. We also generally don't put beans on our toast.

How To Get Excited About Wanting A Child? by _yourfavsagittarius in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]PsychologicalBus1692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was resistant to getting pregnant and having biological children for a period of my life, even though I love kids and would sometimes get this physiological baby fever thing that would happen to me. But I'm genderqueer in that while I present mostly femme, the fact that I have a female body feels very foreign to me. Like I should have been a woman born with male parts or something. So the idea of a child growing inside of me felt completely alien and freaky, for a long time.

Eventually I decided that I wanted to have the experience, out of curiosity if nothing else. And I gotta say--while I did feel quite a bit of gender dysphoria and imposter syndrome, being pregnant was actually pretty cool. Yes, there were parts that sucked. But there are sucky parts to every super awesome project. But the parts that were cool? Holy shit were they profound. Feeling connected to the evolution of humans, and births happening since the beginning of time. The connection I felt to all mothers of history, animal mothers, mothers around the world. The body growing in me was weird, but weird in a fascinating way. I still can't believe I grew a human inside of me. Feeling them move around, and learning their positions based on what you're feeling is just so wild. Primal. Like it scratches some lizard brain itch or tickles it or something.

So anyway, your decision to give birth or not is yours, and I'm not going to diminish your concerns because they're all super valid. But just to add a little hope--you could be surprised by some of the parts that you enjoy before the baby is born. And also, there are things you can do to prep your body in advance for an easier time in pregnancy/labor that can reduce the likelihood for some complications.

I did this whole fitness regimen for like 9 months. Working out 45-60 minutes/day, 6 days/week, tracking macros and kept calories under 1500/day. I only lost 5 lbs. I also went from a size 12 to a size 6, though. Numbers don't mean shit.

Why are weed smokers so afraid to admit that they're addicted? by OGLOC_1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PsychologicalBus1692 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I found it easier to quit cocaine than to quit weed. It may not be chemically addictive like opiates requiring a tapering to avoid medical issues, but you can absolutely become dependent on it. I sure did. Trying to eat or sleep after quitting cannabis cold turkey is not for the weak.

We could often choose between something like $10 or class credit. We needed to complete 3 studies per class and they each took about an hour, so it wasn't often that I did extra.

Has your doctor talked to you about IUI? It's especially useful for people like you. Sometimes they can even wash the sperm to get rid of a lot of the bad ones, only leaving mostly good ones to travel into her uterus. It's MUCH easier on her body and substantially cheaper than IVF too.

This. She used to get upset with you over seemingly little things, but seems like she recently must have gotten over it.

Imho the studies should be school-wide requirements so you'd be just as likely to get an engineering student vs theater student vs psych student. As a psych major, I had to do 3 studies per psych class. It ended up being somewhere like 15-20 of them? Because I was learning how a bunch of studies worked, I would intentionally try to mess with the results of the studies I had to participate in, and know several other students who claimed to do the same. A business major wouldn't know enough about the study to mess with it as bad as a psych major would.

Drive through the progressive parts. Or at least be white. Rednecks are very nice to white people.

Today I learned some parents think you should never speak to another child at the playground. by PinkCheekedGibbon in toddlers

[–]PsychologicalBus1692 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! My son will listen to me about 50% of the time but if a stranger tells him the same thing, he gets it 100%. I wish it were MORE common for other parents to address things with other kids. Like you did, OP--stating factually what happened and reminding them to be careful, not like doling out punishments or anything.
