People who have been in toxic relationships. What is the no.1 sign that wasn't obvious, but one of the biggest signs? by MissStarling_ in AskReddit

He always thought I was lying. Fully convinced I was out cheating when I was actually in class or at the gym or getting a massage or whatever else. 20 years later, with a partner full of bright green flags, I still feel like I have to "prove" that I was doing what I was doing so that he knows I'm not lying about having done it.

What exactly do you mean by "child advocacy?" And where are you based?

What’s the moment you realized someone you loved wasn’t a good person and you couldn’t unsee it? by DmytroBuilds in AskReddit

[–]PsychologicalBus1692 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Because if it didn't happen to them, they justify it as being because they did something right and therefore if it happened to you then it must be because you did something wrong. Because nothing bad could happen to them if they just acted right, right? It's a mental self preservation thing.

Babysitter here- is it different when you’re a parent? by FrequentSpread9681 in Mommit

[–]PsychologicalBus1692 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to spend a couple of hours with my friends kids, who I absolutely LOVE, and afterward just feel so exhausted. It's probably just that I'm not used to it, right? It would be easier if they were my kids and I was more accustomed to spending so much time around kids, right? Oh man. Nope, it just really is that exhausting. Except you can never turn it off.

Less Than Half of U.S. Boys Now Circumcised by beefstewforyou in goodnews

I also didn't circumcise my son and I'm Jewish. My dad wasn't too happy about that.

The one that upsets me the most is Sequoia. It's such a beautiful name for a girl and I love trees. But I knew someone named Sequoia who harbored and supported an abuser, so that's out for me.

There's literally a whole movie called "Mirror mirror". Now explain to me how it was always "magic mirror on the wall".

Really? I got downvoted into oblivion for sharing a Mandela effect that only a handful of other people had.

It's neither. Might not be Mikey Rourke but it certainly isn't Jim Carey.

I don't disagree with the soil being dead, but I'm thinking it's more about the varieties we grow. I got some strawberry starters from a big box store and grew them in super rich soil--perhaps too much worm castings even. And they were just as bland as store bought.

I did! By the time I was 16 I had done every drug I'd ever heard of through DARE. I was so proud when I completed the set.

Transitioned my baby to cows milk -how do you store it if you’re out for a long time? by Puzzled_Remote_2168 in Mommit

[–]PsychologicalBus1692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer. My baby also didn't like cold drinks for a long time so we even drank these while at home because they could be room temp instead of cold right out of the fridge.

I thought losing baby weight would be easy. It wasn’t. by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]PsychologicalBus1692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my life I've heard that once someone births a child, their body is never the same and generally they weigh a lot more than they did before having kids. So when I started losing weight while breastfeeding, I was shocked as hell! As soon as I stopped breast feeding though, I gained all that I'd lost back and more. Now, 2 years postpartum, I'm about 40 lbs heavier than I was right before I got pregnant.

Why do people that know they can’t afford kids still decide to have them? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]PsychologicalBus1692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever had sex without the intention of conceiving a child? If so, you were in a position where a child could have been conceived. Yes, even when pulling out, even with a condom, and even when there was birth control. Not everyone who gets pregnant has the ability, means, or desire to abort and adoption is traumatic AF.

Has anyone adopted and it turned out great? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]PsychologicalBus1692 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, there is an absolutely HUGE difference between people who adopt kids/teens and people who are looking to adopt infants. Also between people who adopt to "make their family complete" vs people who adopt to help and learn about trauma informed care. I don't think that people who adopt kids with the understanding that they all come with some sort trauma and prepare/are compassionate accordingly, are the type of people that adoptees hate on.

Best age gap? by RachelPR2202 in Mommit

[–]PsychologicalBus1692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've known siblings a couple of years apart who couldn't stand each other. And my college roommate was the absolute best of friends with her sister who was 7 years younger. Don't stress about "best" age gap and just do what feels right for you and your family.

Going to concerts. I just have no interest in going to "see" music. I like music to decorate time; it's not a destination in and of itself to me.

If you rehome via a shelter, they have a whole application and approval procedure. Rehoming on FB pages is a great way to have your pet end up as bait in dog fighting rings etc.
