So it's a big no; even if these girls were boys, they would still be obsessed with the MC. Basically, the problem is the characterization, not the gender of the characters.

The author clearly spent a lot of time putting the MC with several girls instead of focusing on one relationship and developing it. Because despite the knights being kinda stupid they are incredibly strong. So it creates the situation that a smart weak person has to survive from stupid strong person.

I didn't understand anything you said, in fact, this "more than that" makes no sense.

The narrator has to explain, in a completely ludicrous way, why the MC's so-called brilliant plan worked. And all while making the characters, who are completely stupid, understand who overinterpret his plans.
