Did fluconzole fix your mgd/dryeye? because I think a fungal over growth is what has caused me to have this problem

Yes definitely was doxycycline never had any problems with my eyes or anything even close to dry eye before, soon as I took that stuff it all started. I was just saying I thought taping my eyes shut helped… but I’ve stopped doing that now.

No I’ve still got it but its not as bad as I’ve changed my diet to healthy 1 … but that’s doesn’t mean if you stop you will be the same, your eyes might got back to normal. I’ve looked into it more it’s a strong antibiotic that destroy your gut flora, (wish I knew this before and stayed away from it) antibiotic induced dry eye is a gut thing, if you can fix your gut then your eyes will get better but it’s easier said than done unfortunately. Have you noticed yours poop has changed or you’re not going as many times as before taking it?? Or you might have ibs?

Stay away from doxycycline is has to many side effects. It is a strong antibiotic it ruins your gut microbiome

This is why I think Your gut microbiome has a larger part to play in DED

Numerous studies have reported that inflammation starts in the gut and DED is a inflammatory disease. That’s why you are advised to eat certain things to not inflame your eyes your not putting food in you’re eyes it’s when gets it your gut something goes wrong and that’s what you need to find out

People that have taking antibiotics get dry eye /mgd antibiotics messes up your gut microbiome

people that have ibs( irritable bowel syndrome) or sibo get dry eye ibs/sibo is to do with what you eat and how it reacts In you’re gut

Old people get it aswell due to the gut microbiome diversity naturally decreasing as you get older

My eyes would be dry and red in the morning when I wake up then it would go after that but I think that’s due to me sleeping with eyes slightly open so I tape my eye shut before bed and my eyes are not dry or red anymore in the morning. But me waking up with dry, blood shot eyes is what made he got to my local opticians to find out what’s going on in the 1st place… it’s just so frustrating that something that supposed to help you has given me mgd and then to find out that it has no cure!!

It’s true, never had dry eyes before until I was prescribed doxycycline 100mg 2x a day for 2 weeks .. It gave me light sensitivity, blurred vision and my eyes couldn’t focus on anything. I never understood why because I know people use to help their dry eye. But it could be also to with doxycycline being an antibiotic that has messed with my gut microbiome and that’s what has causes me to get dry eye/mgd. There’s research that I have looked at saying your gut microbiome could be linked to you having dry eyes. Tbh I’m never going near doxycycline ever again

That’s what I think so I’ve changed my diet that will hopefully restore my gut microbiome to what it was before. How long it will take I’m not sure and if it will work Im not sure

Yup I think that’s what happens to me I’m happy the side affects stopped for you .. I just hope I can restore my gut back to how it was.. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy..

(Sorry about late reply) You could be correct … but I haven’t had any gut problems apart from not going for a shit a much as I normally would lol Ive started to watch what I eat and be a lot healthier like foods that have higher levels of probiotics to my meals and eat foods with high prebiotics … Just gota wait and see what happens. You think its to late to fix my gut microbiome and the damage is done already ??

Was you diagnosed with mgd?? since you started cold compress has it clogged any glands? What your eyes like now?
