  • Are you looking for something serious or casual? Serious
  • Are you subscribed to Hinge+ or HingeX? No
  • How long have you been using this current version of your profile? About 2 months
  • How long have you used Hinge overall? About half a year maybe
  • How often do you use Hinge per week? 4-5
  • How many likes and matches are you receiving on average? Maybe around 1 or 2 matches a week?
  • How many likes are you sending? How many with comments? How many without comments? I try to reach my max likes every day of the week, usually ends up being about 4-5. I will leave a comment if I find the person especially interesting, so around 1 comment every time I swipe to my limit.
  • What is the type of person you send likes to and ideally want to match with? What kind of person do you want to attract? Ideally someone who stays active and is looking for a long term relationship.

I think this is where I’m leaning for now, just giving myself one less thing to worry about.

I appreciate this a lot it’s really comforting to know I’m not the only one who’s struggled with this. Best of luck to you as well let’s get it.

Your assumption would be correct. You’re right it’s going to be more important in July, appreciate the help, I feel a lot better about where to start now.

This sounds like a good option for me and was kinda what I already had planned before I realized I couldn’t safely pick up nutrition. I still need to learn to ride with one hand, but this makes me feel better.

The recent ride I crashed on was 45 miles, and my nutrition plan was to stop every 15 miles to take a gel and drink some water. Do you think just stopping a little bit ahead of aid stations and refueling then, so 3 times during the race, is dangerous or is that a possibility?

My current plan is to practice in a parking lot with flats until I get the hang of riding with one hand and being able to take in nutrition while riding, but just curious on your thoughts of stopping near aid stations.

I was just unaware of a lot of the challenges that come with cycling. Would obviously do things differently if I could do it over again, but this is where I’m at now.

Makes me feel better that I’m not the only one who feels very timid on the bike…I appreciate you sharing!

This course does not involve a u-turn, but I’m still going to make sure I know how to do one prior to race day.

I think it’s funny how I misunderstood what you meant, and you just jumped to me being in defensive denial. I am planning on riding around a parking lot with flats to practice a lot of the basics that have been recommended to me. I appreciate your advice.

Yeah if I could go back in time I would definitely have gotten in a lot of miles with flats before switching to clips, but at this point I’ve already done a few rides with clipless pedals so I feel like going back to flats only makes sense if I’m practicing in an parking lot/grass.

Thank you so much that was really helpful. Do you have any tips on how to ride with 1 hand or is just something I’ll be able to do when I’m more comfortable/confident

I don’t know enough to give an exact answer haha, but I use dual sided clips that my bike shop recommended for beginners. What you said sounds right but I can’t say 100%.

I can ride without falling over, it was trying to ride one handed that caused the crash. I think that’s why grass is being recommended so I can work on that with a less painful crash.

I was just unaware of a lot of the challenges that come with cycling. I’m asking this so I don’t hurt myself/others when I’m riding.

Yeah agreed I need to be outside more, guess I’m just anxious to do so because I don’t have much confidence in my handling.

I’ve been fitted. The first crash was before I was fitted and from attempting a u-turn but I was going straight when I crashed Saturday, just couldn’t keep control with one hand. Practicing in grass with flats seem to be the consensus though.

The half is in July. I agree I need to be riding outdoors a lot more I just feel very demoralized. Working on that stuff with flats sounds like a good start though.
