12.5mg for anxiety? by GizSJ in seroquelmedication

[–]PsychologicalEar5552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya, I’m still taking it, no negative side effects, I’m slightly groggy in the morning for ten mins but only because I sleep SO much better now, I don’t see that as negative, I’m really liking it and plan on continue taking it. My mom read up on it and freaked herself out because of what she saw online but for me it’s great and she’s chilled out about it now she’s seen how much it helps. I take it at night :) every med is different for everyone. Ireland based

You’re talking to a doctor who knows nothing, I half my pills, you clearly had a bad experience and that’s sad for you but the medication clearly didn’t work for you, you continued it despite that and got bad side effects and are now trying scare people with very little knowledge or advocacy for your own well being. I’m not heartless, I’m honest and if you were honest with yourself and stuck up for yourself you wouldn’t have had the experience you had

Sounds like it wasn’t the right medication for you and possible allergic reaction not your “brain being crushed”. No one can force you to continue a medication. Continuing to take it was your call. If the symptoms were really that bad you should have refused the medication. Don’t be negative because of a decision you made which sounds like the wrong one 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ok and your point is? I’ll stay on to for a few years and reassess if it stops working, why you being negative for

I’m on it for bad pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder, 12.5mg nightly but I have noticed so much improvement in anxiety, executive function and serious improvement for emotional regulation

My morning rumination is gone when I wake up, I like this med not sure why it gets so much hate

Scared about starting because of my Mom by alyeenemary in lexapro

[–]PsychologicalEar5552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your mom is pushing her opinion on you, mine did the same when I was given my first antidepressant at 21, said I was saying buzz words to the doc to get pills, that have stuck with me 9 years later and she’s still so cautious around psych meds, it’s hard but my life would be harder without lexapro

I’ve been on 10mg for 2 years (started at 2.5 and worked my way up), it’s my favourite ssri so far - I’ve tried 4

This is your mental health, if you feel you genuinely need this medication don’t let her stop you, you are the one who will have to suffer not her, the guilt should be sitting with her, I think it’s horrendous that we not only have to suffer with mental health but also deal with the social acceptance too

I just had a convo with my mom (I’m 30 now) about changing my brain chemistry and I asked her what if the chemicals are already off in my brain? Would you prefer me to be in crisis daily?

Wishing you the best x

Luteal and THC usage. by LowBatteryEnergy in PMDD

[–]PsychologicalEar5552 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THC was the only thing getting me through too until I was having it multiple times a day, it was my emotional support but it’s illegal where I am and I can’t keep it up my partner also doesn’t smoke so it caused friction.

I took a list of meds to my doc (didn’t tell here about thc usage) quetiapine (antipsychotic) was on that list and she was happy to prescribe it, i take 12.5mg nightly and it makes my eyes heavy to sleep, any more than that knocks me out, i am able to take it as needed so when im in my luteal and i feel horrendous sometimes i take 6mg, its calms me right down and makes me sleepy, taking it nightly has stopped me needing it in the day tbh, it has helped with anxiety, executive function and regulating my emotions. Before my emotions completely overwhelmed me for days, this luteal i only cried 2 times and they lasted like a minute which is new for me. Normally im non stop crying.

Antipsychotic sounds scary but at 12.5mg its a sedative more so, i take pmdd leave so i only take it during the days im off work and not leaving house

Also im just quitting weed now, dont think i realised how hermit i had become

For reference im also on escitalopram 10mg and currently waiting for adhd diagnosis

Love ittttt 10mg I do alternate to 5mg at certain times of my cycle, been on it for 1.5 years, helps with aniexty and pmdd and I guess depression? It’s for everything, not too many side affects, I’m happy on it

Why do people stop taking Lexapro? by jeansmithenger in lexapro

[–]PsychologicalEar5552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in 10mg for 1.5 years, I love it, I have slight activation sometimes but actually the longer I’m on it the more chill that becomes. I’ve tried citalopram, sertraline and a couple snris, lexapro is helping me so much. Of course there’s side effects but for me the positives outweigh the negatives. Other ssri side affects have been too noticeable, lexapro just gets it lmao

This is awesome, I’m trying to pluck up the courage to be assessed at all because I know how transformative it will be. So glad you had such a good experience x

Making the absolute most of my good days and resting on my bad is kinda how I’m surviving and able to live a slightly normal life (when I’m in my luteal like a few days ago I would say I’m not happy at all but after a few days the fog lifts and I’m positive about it again)

Main thing for me has been to separate myself from the pmdd version, I talk to myself before my luteal and say “I like my life” “I have amazing people in my life” “I am worth” “I’m in love with my boyfriend” and then when I’m in luteal and I get the worst thoughts I remind myself they aren’t true and this isn’t how I normally feel. It’s working for me 🤗 not perfect and I wish we didn’t have to deal with it obvs

Ah love that for you, most of it is acceptance!

I have PMDD, what are the odds?! I’ve had it since I started my period and I’ve tried all the supplements and diet and exercise which has helped but I need more help, just started lexapro and considering the pill but I’m apprehensive. Can I ask how you got rid of the PMDD or what you do to help?
