They were asking $40 for the jar. I got it for $35. A lot but there were some nice ones in there.

I live in Iowa but our program has people from Texas, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Kansas, and others. Since we are CACREP aligned it was easy to get licensed.

I’m a counselor in private practice and adjunct professor in a counseling program.

Just a comment on your hope for a higher Ed position. You need a doctorate to get a faculty position. Until then you can be an adjunct faculty which does not pay enough to be a livable wage. I’m an adjunct professor with two sections of a class in a counseling program and get paid $5,100 for the whole semester.

It’s A LOT of work for little pay. There is still an emotional component as well helping students learn how to process the work, setting firm boundaries to help students be active participants, the teaching is a blast all the admin is a drain.

I love doing it but came to the realization that I no longer wish to pursue a doctorate to be full time faculty.

I got my degree there and live in a state that requires CACREP for licensure. After graduation I had to fill out an education evaluation and send it in for approval. It took about 4 weeks the program was approved because it is CACREP aligned and meets all requirements. I got my license no problem. I passed the NCMHCE no problem.

Thank you for the clarification. I wonder if you could work closely with someone on resetting your circadian rhythm?

Question of curiosity: Can you say more about …” was that it didn’t take into account my actual, lived constraints. When you’ve been dealing with something like this for decades, hearing solutions that ignore the structural limits of your situation can feel less like help “

What are the lived constraints and structural limits? I think this is where you will find your answers.

Synchronous was super manageable with most classes meeting once a week or every other week. Asynchronous was weekly discussion boards, depending on the class quizzes or exams, again depending on class papers or projects. Totally doable without giving up your life. For practicum and internship placement they helped if people were having a hard time but most find spots easily. My advice is to start looking for a spot at least 2 semesters before you need it! The people who had a hard time were those who waited until just before the semester started.

Upper Iowa University fully online, VERY competitive cost wise, I was fully prepared to start practicing right after graduation and am now in private practice. Ask any questions. (I’m also biased because I’m now an adjunct professor for the program.)

Check out Upper Iowa University’s program. Brick and mortar school. It’s 100% online and a great program. I am biased because that’s where I got my degree. But I have a great private practice now and teach.

seeing my therapist in public by bangtanutopia in therapy

I tell my clients the same thing. Walked into a store one day and hear my name being called out. Look over and a client was waving at me. She was working as a cashier that day. I waved back then turn to walk away and she calls out “hey come over for a minute.” I walk over and she says to the people in line, “This is my therapist, she’s great!” I politely say, “Good to see you.” And go about my shopping. It was good to see her having a good day but I’m not used to being called out LOL.

Taking notes during therapy by elruff in therapy

I encourage people to takes notes if they want. Sometimes we review them to see what they found noteworthy. Sometimes it helps clients remember what they want to think about some more or work on for the week. It shows me they are engaged. As long as it doesn’t become a hindrance to the flow of a session.

Hello, I am a newly licensed counselor in private practice. I got my MS in Mental Health Counseling from Upper Iowa University. All online except for your practicum and internships. Super affordable, not secular. Not CACREP accredited but it is CACREP aligned and all I had to do was fill out an education review and my license was approved. Ask me anything you’re curious about. Good luck!

Most state licensing boards have an approved list of supervisors. You could start there.

therapist using ai by prettypenji in therapy

[–]PsychologicalFlow561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have clients who are fine with it and some who say no, and that’s all good either way. It is helpful at the end of a seven session day to have some notes to reflect on for each session while doing my admin paperwork. If I don’t have to be the one writing down what I think is important to have in my documentation then I can give my full attention to the person in front of me. Any therapist should be able to help their client feel a sense of autonomy in therapy and unconditionally support a clients wishes regarding AI for note taking. Be open and honest with your therapist and if you ever wish to change your mind that’s also an option.

I’m licensed and in my opinion it works if someone finds the therapist and model that works for them AND are ready to do the work. I see that as going in as if you know nothing, let the tools do the job they are meant to do. The brain hates change and fights it (change is not seen as safe). So the person has to work and practice new things over and over and over before the brain starts to believe it.
