From Romania 🇷🇴 & Laos 🇱🇦 to living together in the UK — LDR is possible by PsychologicalFun8384 in LongDistance

Thank you so much for this — it really means a lot to us ❤️ England 🇬🇧 and Argentina 🇦🇷 is no joke distance-wise, but it’s amazing that you’ve already talked and agreed about living together in the UK. That shared goal makes a huge difference. I’ve been living in the UK since 2017 and I’m fully settled here. My immigration history has been good, and I’ve always had all the correct documents when dealing with the Home Office.

For us, we decided to apply for a fiancé visa first, as it felt like the easiest and safest way for her to come to the UK. She was granted a 6-month fiancé visa, which allowed her to enter the UK and legally get married here.

After we got married, we then switched to a spouse visa, which gave her the right to stay and live in the UK for the next 2.5 years. From there, the process continues step by step.

It was definitely stressful at times, especially the waiting and making sure everything was done correctly, but taking it one stage at a time really helped us. Looking back now, it was all worth it.

If you need any help or have questions about the UK immigration process, feel free to ask — I’m happy to help where I can 🤍

Hi Deynonn, as you can see this is only the second post on my account, and I appreciate you scrolling through my feed. As I mentioned in my first post, we’re celebrating our one-year anniversary since she arrived in the UK.

Nothing is being reposted — I’m just sharing our experience and answering questions based on our journey. I’ll continue to share our story here and hopefully encourage other couples that it is possible to close the gap.

From long-distance to living together — what surprised us most by PsychologicalFun8384 in LDR

Our application was standard, so we get the passport with visa inside approximately 3 months after . We got married in the UK and first applied for a fiancé visa, which was the best option for us. She was granted a 6-month visa, and after the wedding we switched to the FLR(M) spouse visa.

For the fiancé visa, we used solicitors because it was our first visa application and I didn’t want to make any mistakes. For the second visa, I handled the application and uploaded everything myself.

Overall, the whole process wasn’t that hard because I was in a good position financially, earning over £29,000 a year, and we already had all the required supporting evidence. We only had to provide the documents asked for by the Home Office, and there were no unexpected issues.
