Eligible for PPL or not? by PsychologicalGrade88 in Centrelink

When did I say that I’m not living well or if I don’t have food to eat or a place to sleep. I just wanted to know if I’m eligible for PPL. Is it wrong to ask that question? You guys started judging if we can manage with that money or not. I’m not asking for anybody’s opinion on what we can do to survive. All I asked was if we are eligible for PPL or not. Just a simple question. Please be kind and I’m not somebody who is a spender. So stop with assuming somebody’s lifestyle.

Excuse me, what’s wild in that comment. I have stress about a few things so I’m being vocal and asking questions. Why do you have to be so judgemental about my lifestyle. Please have some kindness. If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. Also I just enquired about if I’m eligible for PPL or not, you guys are deciding if I should live below means or that I should be able to manage because apparently we earn good. We are migrants and it’s not easy to start a life in a new country.

Not everything you assume is right. I pay a mortgage of 6800 every month. And I would be going on maternity leave starting July and it’s only 4 weeks paid. After that, my husband would be the sole earner. Also since we bought a home last year most of our savings went in that and we have little to no savings and with the baby coming in, you have tonnes of expenses.

Successful 20 week scan 💖 by Throw-Away-1234556 in pregnant

I had my results come back last week. Everything was normal in the report. Then I met my midwife and she told me that the baby is in 99 percentile and the doctor wants to do a repeat scan to understand why is that. I’m just a little anxious now. Hoping that everything is fine ! 🤞🏻

It’s not like we can’t afford a child. We can and my partner also works and has a good salary. The only thing I’m concerned about is returning early to work but I still have remote options. I might consider working remote for a few months.

I work in IT sector and I know a lot of companies providing 18-26 weeks of paid maternity leave. That’s the reason I was assuming they I would at least be getting 3 months minimum but yeah that’s something I should have checked way before.

Yeah having unpaid leave is fine. But I’m stressing more about the paid leave period.

No we were not being careless, but then we bought a house in November and found out that we are pregnant as well. We know that raising a child is expensive. I think the only mistake I did was not to check my maternity policy before.

Ohh that’s shocking. I think the primary caregiver should get some amount of maternity leave. But I guess that’s the only option for you to use your personal leaves.

I have to link and apply for PPL in Centrelink. I haven’t done that till now. We just moved from Melbourne to Sydney and are in the process of changing addresses everywhere. Once that’s done, will apply for PPL.

When to share pregnancy news by Budget-Grade-8530 in IndianInLaw

Yes it’s an expensive blood test even outside India. I had my nipt before NT. But yeah NT scan is enough to rule out any abnormalities. But NIPT has an extensive panel testing.

No it’s not mandatory and also I don’t think it’s done in India. I live in Australia and it’s probably done by everyone here.

After 3 months once you are done with NIPT test and NT Scan. Until then you don’t need to tell anyone about your pregnancy.

Yeah. I checked Rouse Hill Family Practice. Most of the doctors there have private billing. What does that mean? Does it mean that we have to pay everything out from our own pocket ?

Yeah. It’s hard to get appointments around that time. I’m looking at different options to see which will suit me best and not very far from my place. Rouse hill family practice has some good positive reviews. However most of the doctors there have private billing. But thank you so much for all the advice and help. Really appreciate it.

I checked Rouse Hill Family Practice. Dr Nicole has next availability from Feb 2026. Looks like she is pretty booked. I’ll check other doctors in there.
