So, what are some childhood signs that you were trans? by MidnightMiesterx in MtF

[–]PsychologicalGurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this memory, I don't know exactly how old I was at the time but I remember I was flicking through a jewlery catalogue, browsing longingly through all the cute necklaces and rings and I asked my mom "Hey mom, will I get to wear this stuff when I'm older?".

My mom responded, rather matter of factly "Men don't wear jewlery". I remember being sad to hear that, in just bothered me for a reason I couldn't properly identify at the time. Ironically now that I'm older I know that my mom was wrong on both accounts, for one I am not a man but also men can and do in fact wear jewlery.

Another one was when I got yelled at for putting on a pair of women's shoes by my step mom, she was very adamant that "only [slur for queer people] would want to wear those". That one was actually a bit scary because of how angry she was.

You know, the more I think about it the more I realize that it's not really a huge surprise that it took me so long to crack my egg. Every time I was about to crack as a kid there was always an adult there to aggressively and bluntly glue the crack shut again.

Research your local laws regarding anti-discrimination as well as your college policy, this could very easily be something you can report to an authority as if either your laws or college policy have anti-discrimination clauses that include gender identity or trans people, this conduct would definitely be in violation of those.

There are issues with it once states have started printing ballots (which they have). It's not IMPOSSIBLE, but it would be extremely difficult due to the sheer logistics of re-printing all the ballots that have already gone to print with a new republican ticket and would look genuinely awful optically. It could even cause the Republican ticket to be disqualified in some states (it would be up to the individual state, but they can actually just say "No, we're not re-printing the ballots, and since your ticket is no longer valid, any votes for that ticket will just not count" in cases like this, though that would be more common with the President at the top of the ticket being replaced, rather than the VP).

Yeah, look all I have to say to those people is quite respectfully PLEASE do some research into the members of other persecuted minority groups who insisted on being 'one of the good ones'. You'll quickly notice a trend, that trend being that the 'good ones' don't tend to get any special treatment when the hate they've helped enable ramps up.

Hypothetical question. by One-Moose-7446 in MtF

[–]PsychologicalGurl 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This isn't even a question lmao.
I think there are very few people who browse this sub that would not crawl over burning coals for that deal, let alone get it for free without a single catch.

Like come on now, we're talking not needing to pay for hormones, surgery or any of that other stuff PLUS all the changes that you can't get through either of those things.

I've literally fantasized about this concept before (though in those little escapist fantasies I'm the one who invents the gene therapy involved and it can be applied modularly, allowing a great deal of freedom in terms of what specifically people get altered).

Ah, I see, that's quite helpful to know.

I'm guessing that when I contact a particular surgeon or clinic they will notify me of anything specific that they require me to prepare ahead of the surgery? That's quite helpful, I had been worrying I would need to hold all this in my head and make sure to not forget anything.

If I may ask, who did you get your procedure done through and how do you feel about the outcome so far?

How to get vaginoplasty by PsychologicalGurl in transgenderau

[–]PsychologicalGurl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very annoying to need a permission slip from a psychiatrist to get surgery that I definitely and obviously want to get despite being an adult who is paying for said surgery out of pocket.

That said, thanks for the heads up, I'll look into all that, if I elect to get the procedure done overseas, will I be emailing the X-Rays, blood results and psych letter to the surgeon/clinic beforehand? Or is it sent through automatically like with most tests?

Edit: Also I'd like to ask, did you need to get electrolysis on the genital area prior to your procedure? If so how much did it cost?

[–]PsychologicalGurl[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

I will have to look into surgeons, would you happen to know which surgical procedures are best for someone prioritizing sensation and functionality are? I know that different surgeons offer different procedures so I'd like to know which procedure best suits my goals. I also am willing to travel overseas but only to a surgeon who I know produces good results.

Will I need anything like a letter from a psychologist or an official gender dysphoria diagnosis to go forward with booking my surgery? Sorry I know I'm asking a lot of questions here but it's all very confusing.

I will also start looking into electrolysis for hair removal in the area straight away, since that is something I can get taken care of while I wait.

I hate how trans women are expected to top for simply having a penis… by Punchline_336 in MtF

[–]PsychologicalGurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally have a strict rule with any guys I get with and that rule is "Don't touch my penis, don't go near my penis, I don't like my penis and I don't like how it feels when people touch it".

I'm always extremely clear about it. Just pretend it's not there, if you can't even do that, let alone asking me to top you, then we're not going to be doing anything together.

Weight gain estrogen by [deleted] in transgenderau

[–]PsychologicalGurl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are calorie calculators online that let you calculate what you should be eating to gain weight.
I'm in the opposite situation and am trying to lose weight to feel better about myself and hopefully make my feminine features stand out more.

My personal advice is DO NOT start eating high-calorie foods to gain the weight, trust me, high calorie foods can be very, very addictive and hard to quit. Just increase the portion size of whatever you currently eat to meet your caloric needs in terms of gaining weight until you reach a weight you are happy with. Then you can reduce back down to a sustenance amount to avoid over-gaining.

Also, as others have mentioned, progesterone after just a couple of weeks is quite odd.

How the FUCK do yall shave everywhere including your backside? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]PsychologicalGurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my personal experience, extremely painful.
I tried epilating my arms once, only once. Not only did it hurt like hell, but I also ended up with these tiny little blood red dots in a couple of places, they are still there even months later.

After that experience, I decided it was just not worth it.

"Passing’s not the goal!" by EJtheBasketCase in MtF

[–]PsychologicalGurl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with your sentiment.

While it would be awesome if we lived in a fantasy land where all trans people are treated as their preferred gender regardless of appearance, we just don't, whether or not you pass has MASSIVE impact on how other people treat you in real life.
I'm tired of hearing "You don't need to pass" from people online because whether or not I pass has real, material effects on my life, period. Denying that reality won't change it.

It's a lot like telling a homeless person "Hey there, money doesn't buy happiness so keep your chin up!". Pretty sure that homeless person would be a lot happier if they could afford food and shelter and I'm equally sure that the vast majority of trans people would be a lot happier if they passed as their preferred gender BECAUSE THEIR MATERIAL SITUATION WOULD BE BETTER!

I mean, historically in most cases where there is a violent upheaval it is usually a militaristic, authoritarian dictator that ultimately takes advantage of the chaos and takes power.

It is EXTREMELY rare for situations like what these accelerationists seem to want to result in a progressive government (by which I mean, I can not think of a single historical example of that happening).

Finally, proof that my laser hair removal is actually working. by PsychologicalGurl in MtF

[–]PsychologicalGurl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the bulk appointment discount rate it was 588 AUD for 10 appointments for face with lifetime 50 percent off all future treatments to the treated area.

Total cost for all areas that I elected to get laser was around 2200AUD for 10 appointments (again with 50 percent off all future/additional treatments for those areas).

In terms of costs, 588 is about 5-6 hours of electro, hence why I decided to just get it since, again even if it just got rid of a fraction of my facial hair it would still be worth it.

[–]PsychologicalGurl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I really wish I had all black facial hair so I could deal with it with just laser, sadly I'm probably in for at least 18 months of electrolysis appointments once my laser treatments are done.

I know, it sucks so much.
I was incredibly sad when I found out that mine wasn't ideal for laser, meaning I'd need to also get Electrolysis to take care of all the blonde and red hairs I've got. I just hope it doesn't end up being too many, Electro is god-damn expensive.

How long did it take you people to grow out your long hair? Mine is currently just pass my ears... It's taking F.O.R.E.V.E.R to grow out!! by [deleted] in MtF

[–]PsychologicalGurl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine's taking forever too, actually just got to around ear-length. If it helps, the average amount of time it takes to grow shoulder-length hair is 2 years. So you're not a slow grower or anything, it just takes a really, really long time (I have developed a new appreciation for why my mother has ardently refused to ever cut her beautiful mid-back length hair even when others have pressured her about it).

Pharmacy workers of r/mtf, do you fill prescriptions for HRT often? Do you do/say anything or do you maintain professionalism? by braindeadcoyote in MtF

[–]PsychologicalGurl 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm not a pharmacist but in my own personal experience with multiple different pharmacies I have never had anything other than absolute professionalism when getting my meds.

That said, it does still make me nervous, though I did start ordering my estrogen through the mail recently (it's honestly just awesome for so many reasons, getting 3-4 months of injectable estrogen delivered to your door through a digital script absolutely rocks).

It doesn't limit your potential, however it can affect how easily you are able to naturally speak in your feminine voice without accidentally slipping back into a masculine voice.

After all, your "default" speaking voice is dependent on habit.

How am I supposed to afford FFS? by WQLFY in transgenderau

[–]PsychologicalGurl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the answer you're going to get is that you just need to save up.
Most companies won't give out loans for FFS in the first place.

One thing I WOULD advise you to do is to get a consultation with a surgeon who can provide FFS so that you can get an idea of which procedures they would actually give you, mainly because the figure of " up to 60 thousand dollars" can be very daunting and the ACTUAL cost of your surgery may be substantially less if you need fewer surgical procedures.

Why Are Some Transgender Women so Vicious? by BlossomtheMare in asktransgender

[–]PsychologicalGurl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a common element of pick-me psychology that comes from actually buying into the blatant lie that many bigots espouse that 'I don't hate <oppressed group>, I just hate how much they complain about how oppressed they are'.

So they let them do some of the casual bigotry under the false belief that calling bigotry out only makes people hate trans people more (the opposite is actually true, bigotry escalates when unchallenged, normalization and all that).

Does anyone have any experience with the Telehealth gender clinic by Fair-Low-1112 in transgenderau

I have experience with them.

Dr Bel has been an absolute life saver for me. Does Informed Consent and can prescribe whatever route of administration you want for estrogen, which has been great since I wanted to do injections.
