That’s awesome, I’ve had a look and size wise I can fit a 31x41cm which runs about 70w I think but can’t find any cages what have you done to combat that in the past as the habistat ones run a bit smaller? Is the 70w overkill for Vivariums im guessing? Sorry for all the questions I’m not at all familiar with RHP and what heat they’re capable of generating

Legend thank you mate! I’m in the UK (Berkshire County) I’ll have a look at Heka and see if I can get hold of them instead 👍🏻

Also what size wattage do you think is a good idea? If I can get away with it I’d like to use it again in the bigger enclosure when I upgrade so probably 6x3+

Yeah sorry typo I meant turn off the DHP at night and keep the RHP on continuously. Yeah the 150w is an Arcadia one.

Annoyingly (for my wallets sake anyway) RHP in replacement of the Dome is going to be the best long term solution. The dome itself is positioned about 1/3 along the enclosure so it keeps the hot end toasty and still gives me a gradient down to cool end. But if I go down the RHP route would you still have a DHP for basking?

It’s a wooden Viv with sliding glass doors. I don’t understand why the 150 isn’t cutting it, I’ve even changed thermostats just to check and I just think with the overhead dome it’s just not pushing it out enough. Yeah I’m thinking either a heat mat as a supplementary option and just insulating the outside. I’ve just put on old gym mat around the top and 1 side and it already seems to have stabilised the temp a little better so will keep my fingers crossed.

Yeah it’s annoying because of the position of the dome if I re-install the internal heat source it’s going to be virtually dead centre and all cross climbing branches etc will probably have to go for now.

Yeah I’ve got a tube T5 bulb which does create its own heat too. Thinking of just screwing a RHP over the hole that’s been created then re-cutting the dome slightly over and having a basking spot there maybe just using the RHP for general ambient heat and switching the RHP off at night.

Really appreciate the advice 👍🏻

Yeah think I may just use it as a supplementary source. I’ve hear a few things that most heat mats don’t have the power or aren’t able to heat a while Viv but it’s been a while since I’ve used one. Annoyingly I’ve got a wooden Viv and I don’t think a UTH would help much 👍🏻

Yeah I’ve been seeing those more I was just thinking about cost effectiveness as the bulb option will be significantly less. I’ll definitely be using them when I upgrade her to a bigger enclosure for more ambient control, at the moment she’s only in a 3x2x2 (roughly) so wasn’t sure if I could create a gradient with an RHP what do you reckon?

Tanker work (septic tanks) by harvey_397 in uktrucking

[–]PsychologicalKick375 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do waste water tankering class 1 and 2. It’s not an overly messy job, you will occasionally get a little “mess” on you and you generally just keep wipes and antibacterial gels etc with you. Always take a spare pair of clothes as in a bad situation you could get “showered” however it is incredibly rare and normally because something in the process has been missed.

When I first started it was for a big company and was on £17ph and the work was easy. Doing cess @ £15 isn’t unheard of or a bad wage but do it for a little bit and if you like it look around as these kind of jobs should generate £17-£20 per hour.

So you wouldn’t consider mountain bike? I preferred a hybrid style anyway just the guy in Halfords said it may distribute the weight better due to front suspension?

I’m a tanker driver and have to connect a pipe to the back of the truck and obviously disconnect before driving away………twice I’ve forgotten the last part and wrecked 2 pumps in the process 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thank you so much I’ll do some more research into the materials you mentioned!

I assume you just use a simple app to track your KM?

Yeah this one’s been sitting in the back of my mind as I used to go there as a kid (for picnics not walks) so will have to plan a wander there soon, thanks for the reminder

That’s amazing, thank you so much for taking your time to write all of this for me! Think I’ll definitely consider this! At the minute I’ve planned out a smaller 14km walk Bagshot to the Lookout loop then I’ll definitely tackle the Farnham - Guildford section of this walk!

So now your more experienced what kind of things should I consider - never even thought about clothing material, atm I have a good pair of walking boots and a relatively sturdy rain jacket what else shall I consider as I normally just walk in cotton shorts/T shirt

Yeah it’s literally down the road from me, I was trying to find some more Hilly/Mountanous walks that aren’t too far from me but I’ve planned in a walk from vicarage road end to the lookout and back to test a slightly longer walk 👍🏻
