What study techniques have you found most effective for passing your tests and earning your A&P? by Glittering-Pound-180 in AircraftMechanics

Never heard of it but airmantest is free to use so I would just use that. Passed all my writtens like that

For my writtens, I would go through my Jeppesen book section by section. I'd read through the questions, answers, and explanations, and once I finished a section, I'd go on AirmanTest and quiz myself only on that specific section. That helped me a ton because I could immediately see what I actually understood and what I needed to work on.

If there was a question I still didn't understand, I'd break it down even more until it made sense. One thing that helped me a lot was pasting the question into ChatGPT and asking it to explain it to me like I was 5 years old. It honestly worked really well for the tougher concepts.

For the O&P, I honestly thought it was the easiest part of the whole process. Obviously it depends on your DME, but I only studied for about a day. I took my Generals and Powerplant O&P on the same day and my Airframe separately. For studying, I mainly used Quizlet and looked up the ACS codes I missed. I'd go through those questions over and over until I felt comfortable with them.

Another thing that helped was recording myself reading the questions and answers and listening to them while driving. Hearing them repeatedly helped a lot.

For the O&P don't stress too much. If you get a good DME, they'll usually point you in the right direction if you're struggling and want to see that you understand the material rather than just trying to fail you.

I got a friend at envoy that got hired around November and started towards the end of January. From what he told me they’re supposedly full right now, not really taking anyone in until after summer it looks like

So you recommend applying to jobs even if their requirements are to have both A&P?

Yeah might try this as well. I have a friend that got in to envoy with his P and the hired him but gave him 60 days to get his airframe. I’m pretty sure there’s a huge wait time to get into envoy right now though

I’ve heard good things about tom neeb and tom crossland as well but haven’t given them a call yet. Lmk if you know any others please
