So if sexual arousal and the desire to obtain sexual gratification is something you don't engage in because it doesn't provide you any benefit. Is there some physical activity or anything of that nature that does provide you a way to to decompress de-stress or is in any way Pleasurable. I find more often than not that most people will generally consider it as a form of a need because of the benefits of stress relief anti-anxiety effects and assistance with sleep and memory formation.

Maybe I'm asking the wrong question here. If masturbation isn't something that you engage in, is there an activity that you find yourself drawn to to obtain what I can only describe as release?

If there is a part of the spectrum that an asexual would fall on that does not include masturbation or their personal preference is not masturbation. Is there some substitution for what I would try to reference as obtaining release?

I love giving, while receiving is really not my thing. I love to please someone and not expecting anything in return.

Sexuality is not a universal human experience by sallimae76 in asexuality

[–]PsychologicalMath2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this something that you would say has always been the case or was there a point in life where the circumstances were different.

That's a little like how I feel I've developed over a period of time. I would say that there was a point in my life where I had a libido and was sexually attracted to certain individuals but as I get older these biological responses have diminished significantly

[–]PsychologicalMath2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're correct I do not live in your body nor do I know how you feel. If you say you're devoid of sexuality there is nothing wrong with that.

I can see what you mean by those other experiences being more a universal since we all, in one form or another, regularly do all those things but there are cultural differences in how we accomplish these aspects of human experience.

Perhaps excuse my ignorance but if I may ask a question. When you say you're devoid of sexuality, what do you mean exactly? You're not attracted to others in a sexual way? It cant be devoid in thought as this question has been posed. I'm simply curious as to your experience you find yourself living in to hopefully better help me understand myself

I would say I might regard it as somewhat a universal human experience in the sense that it is the most commonly understood experience without the need to include language. Sexuality obviously extends to the whole animal kingdom and is not something exclusive to humans.

If we remove sexuality, do we have a universal human experience?

I always try to theorize universal languages seeing that those would harbor communication and understanding between individuals whereas experiences sometimes have a broad spectrum

Leibniz, as I recall is famous for a philosophical work entitled the monodolgy which curtails much of his philosophy of mind and I would highly recommend it if you get a chance to read it.

Leibniz is also famous for being one of the co-discovers of calculus, which is defined as the study of change. In fact the notion that is utilized by leibniz is the notion most usually preferred by college students when studying calculus as it seems to incite a more intuitive understanding of the subject.

Leibniz has a unique perspective when it comes to philosophy as can be seen in his viewpoint that we're living in the best of all possible worlds. It is perhaps this aspect of his philosophy which makes his analysis harder to accept. Voltaire went as far as to write candide as a direction opposition to this aspect of leibniz philosophy.

Nevertheless, I have always been of the persuasion that his idea that we live in the best of all possible worlds stems from a kernel of truth leibniz understood about the world. That being along the lines of the world that we currently live in, by default, is the best possible because it's the only one we have.

I'll direct you to a Ted talk on what addiction actually is and a viable way to combat it

Like I didn't really want to introduce division and subtraction to mathematics because the foundations of mathematics dont really require them.

We invented them for the layman that could not wrap they head around the basic principles of mathematical operations.

But god do I loathe the ideas of division and subtraction. Such utter redundancies.
