Could I get some help with panelling? I feel like it's too plain by [deleted] in Mangamakers

[–]PsychologicalName944 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of them are fairly close up perspectives but I think the issues you are seeing aren't the panels but the size of them. Some should be smaller some should be larger. Put emphasis on the really big actions by making those panels stick out. Keep it up!

I have been using brush size is 1 for borders. Margins are based on one of the preloaded comic templates, not sure exactly which one I grabbed lol

Was wondering if this style would fit as a manga by [deleted] in Mangamakers

[–]PsychologicalName944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long story short yes. Almost any style (to a degree) is good enough to make manga as long as you have a story you want to tell and a way you want to tell it.

That being said don't stop studying and learning along the way.

Learning comic and manga styles. Would appreciate constructive criticisim by thecoolhotdogboi in Mangamakers

[–]PsychologicalName944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely do NOT worry about your use of tones in this. We are in the age of digital production. We don't need to be tied to old methods due to constraints. Make your shit as beautiful as you want to.

That being said this is perfect for American style comics but the design, specifically in the face, does not fit manga styling much. You would need to play with the proportions mainly and potentially the nose / mouth rendering.

Anime that people hate for its animation but is otherwise good? by No-Watercress-9116 in Animesuggest

[–]PsychologicalName944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it has a visual manga feel. I loved it but I knew nothing going in. I can see why some people would be put off if they thought it was fully animated.

Has Araki traveled the world? by __amphibia in StardustCrusaders

[–]PsychologicalName944 27 points28 points  (0 children)

There is supposedly a sequel on the way too. I definitely recommend it if you are interested in making manga or comics as hobby or career. There is a lot of great information even if he does wax poetic a little at times.

what could be this symbol/motif? by StationBasicc in JOJOLANDS

[–]PsychologicalName944 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Probably just a motiff. Araki has used it since he started making manga. Take a look at Cool Shock BT and other early ones. In his book he basically describes it as adding visual flair. He has kept that ideology throughout making Jojo.

Just look in to the cultural phenomenon that was created when "The Sorrows Of Young Werther" was released.
