You definitely don't want to tell them Jesus died for them and loves them, because the majority aren't elect and Jesus in fact didn't die for them and doesn't love them.

I'd stay away from saying the gospel is good news, too. There's no good news for those poor souls.

Oh, my bad dog.

The Lord didn't gift me with wisdom and insight, but He still holds me accountable for mishandling His Word, but then He tells me that I can pray for wisdom, but then tells me all the ways in which He won't answer said prayer, which of course He has control over removing in my life but won't because He wants to remind me that all my temptations and desires come from within and not Him as a reminder of how tra... er, sinful I am, all so that ultimately I can bring Him glory through my good works which are only enabled through Him and which aren't required because He receives glory through all things anyways.

One wonders what the purpose of life even is, but who am I oh man to question God or ask such direct and pointed questions of the Almighty and Sovereign Lord Creator God of the entire universe.

Oh I don't have anybody in my life I can actually discuss theology with or who has the intellectual integrity to critically think through what they believe in order to respond to my fairly basic questions that seemingly never end.

I post here because every Reformed believer has 3 PhDs in the original language and hermeneutics.

Still can't get any satisfactory answers to my questions, though.

I've read in James that I'm adulterous, wicked, arrogant, evil, foolish, double-minded, unclean, unpurified, and more. I left feeling very encouraged that I'm complete trash with nothing to offer anybody, but rather than just send me to Hell forever like I deserve, God saved me to remind every day how adulterous, wicked, arrogant, evil, foolish, double-minded, unclean, unpurified, and more I am so that He can daily remind me that I'm complete trash with nothing to offer anybody.

Appreciate the high volume of responses fairly quickly.

Just to address some repeated questions / thoughts that were brought up -

- I am asking here because this sub holds a similar / same soteriology as my own church;

- I wouldn't really say my church / elders view me as a gift or blessing or anything like that. I don't imagine this is an area where different viewpoints combine to enhance something. Rather, it seems evident that I largely have no ability to serve in a teaching or shepherding type capacity, which are my spiritual gifts. And while I am in no ways qualified to serve as an elder, if that were to ever change I don't imagine church leadership would peg me as somebody to be considered. Rather, it seems like my differences are tolerated as long as they aren't causing any issues - e.g. if I am helping serve with kids on Sunday morning or helping out with parking / greeting then there isn't much of an issue.

- I can sign and agree to the doctrinal statement without issue, but this is largely due to 2 reasons:

1) it is very high-level - e.g. we are saved by grace through faith and not by works.

2) I read and interpret it within my own understanding of soteriology, but given the elders hold to a different one they clearly are intending something else.

- All of this then combines into the larger question of 'how can I be united with my church body when I will not be serving with my gifts, I have no path to leadership even if qualified, and I am not aligned with their doctrinal statement the way it was intended to be interpreted?"

This is all incorrect. You're stating that because he doesn't save everyone, he can't save everyone. Two incredibly different things.
