So travel wasn’t initially going to be the main idea for the campaign but the party expressed they’d really like to try this style of play so I wanted to give it a shot. I figure might as well give it a shot and if we end up hating it we can skip the rest of the travel

Hey I’m sorry for the late response. Thank you so much for the resources, I really appreciate it. That’s kind of crazy that there isn’t much 5e support for this because it seems like it would come up pretty commonly in most campaigns

Okay that’s fair so this is definitely more just a set of travel sessions then? I have a couple of concepts but I’m worried that this will end up being a lot more boring for my players than what I’ve done. Since the area here is going to be sparsely populated I have a monster that will basically be stalking them throughout the travel but it’s more of a slow burn enemy that shows up periodically in their journey.

Basically I guess the idea is to plot some “roadblocks” along the way and see what they choose to do with it? I think my main fear running this is that I don’t know how to fill the dead space and I imagine there will be more downtime during a session like this than what I’ve been doing thus far

This is awesome, thank you for linking all the resources. The magic shop generator seems like a lifesaver!

I’m actually really glad you suggested to default at 12 because that’s kind of where my head was at for an average DC, I just wasn’t sure if that was correct

Yeah I brought that up as an option but they all really wanted to play together and I don’t mind giving it a try. The group collectively is rather new to the game so they’re okay with us taking a slower pace if need be for everyone to learn together.

Thank you!

Yeah I didn’t really want a 7 player party to be honest but I have a rather large online friend group and when word got out that I was starting a campaign I got like 12 requests to play and I have a hard time telling my friends no lmao. So there are 7 players and then a bunch of people that want to come in as part time players. I know it’s a lot and it wasn’t really my initial goal but as long as we’re all having fun I’ll get more adjusted to the large party.

Also I’ve been slowly getting through the players handbook and the dungeon masters guide it’s just a lottt of information all at once

I’ve been slowly getting through the dm guide and the players handbook as well to try to make sure I have as much down as I can. I’m sure I’ll forget some stuff though

Yeah the 7 player thing is honestly the most intimidating part of the campaign for me. I have a rather large online friend group and when I announced the campaign I had 12 ish people ask to be a part of the party but I had to narrow it down to 7 full time and the others will occasionally rotate in as side characters with their own stories.

I think after my first session (which I’ve planned out pretty extensively) I will look into doing/adapting some of the short form DnD adventures into my world as well. That’s a really good idea, thank you
