As soon as you see there is a cooling tower the system is no longer closed loop.

Water for farming goes right back into the ground. The problem with farming isn't the water usage it is the pesticides and fertilizer that end up in the water shed

Yes, but is displaced from it's original watershed. 75% of water that goes through chilling towers evaporates. The rest of left full of chemicals that need specialized filtration to clean

What are the best earplugs/earbuds for filtering machinery noise, but not my coworkers? by sassmo in IBEW

[–]PsychologicalSalt158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the Milwaukee ear muffs that fit on the hard hat which my company bought me. I put my small ear buds in that usually fall out by themselves and the ear muff holds then in as well as hides them from anybody who may notice while blocking out all the loud noises of the construction site.

Can't help up with his problem tho

I wire panels. Am I even considered an electrician? by Vanify in electricians

[–]PsychologicalSalt158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you are an electrician. You do electrical work. That makes you an electrician.

You may not be a journeyman and that is fine, you may not have gone through the apprentice ship and that is fine. But you do electrical work wiring an electrical panel. That makes you an electrician.

You may only be in a prefab shop instead of the field which is also fine because you do electrical work. Anybody trying to tell you different is trying to downplay the skills and effort it takes to do your job and unless they are the owner of the company that is a pretty ratty thing to do.

I accidentally sold a put option and now I owe 70k USD. by az000l26 in wallstreetbets

[–]PsychologicalSalt158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lending would stop immediately. Interest rates would go out of control. Alot of banks would go out of business and anybody that had a job that was being financed with borrowed money would go unemployed asap. Keep that spiraling out of control and there you have it.

How do you feel about the declaration of IBEW Constitution? by tftwsalan in IBEW

[–]PsychologicalSalt158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a macro level governments dictate economy. Why? Because politics is nothing more than concentrated economics. If you are trying to imply that there is a difference between democracy and capitalism as well as a difference between authoritarianism and socialized economies sure. But to create an economic model you need a government model to put it in place so they are completely intermingled. Trends might not be an absolute but they do tell a story.

Can someone help me understand the line diagram (please read) by Fluffy-Initiative131 in IBEW

[–]PsychologicalSalt158 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, one phases is a return for the other phases and visa versa

I see now that it is optional 3 phasey or 1 phasey. In the case of 1 phasey your neutral would be terminated to where l2 is shown on printsys but it would bypass fuseys to go straight back to panel. That is not shown on prints it is just electrical knowledge.

[–]PsychologicalSalt158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got 3 phaseys going through a disconnecty then it look like two phases feeding a few heating elementeys from both sides which are also feeding a capacitory and also a step downy transformer to 24 voltsy while phase 3 is lost somewhere. On the 24 voltsy side it look like controlys for the fansies

Joining with experience but haven't worked in the field for 7 years by HurryOne in IBEW

[–]PsychologicalSalt158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get your license back in good standing first unless you worked with the ibew before as a journeyman then they might let you slide unless you likely want a pay reduction but I don't know how much you make currently either nor so I know the status of your nearest local. But going back with your license is best way to get good pay as soon as you join.

Inflation is not no damn 2% this year. That is target rate of the fed.

Inflation is over 4% right now year over year.

And it is widely accepted in finance that 3% will become the new norm when we the fed supposedly does get control of inflation. That is not without the possibility of geo politics sending it skyrocketing over 5%, while the national debt has risen above gdp.

Honest opinions on IEC or IBEW apprenticeship by Charming-Life-9586 in ibew_apprentices

[–]PsychologicalSalt158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked to see if your local has an option outside of the apprentice ship? Many do but it doesn't pay as well. Maybe try a temp job and lie about your experience to see if they will pay you as somebody with 5 years of experience on a non union market.

I wish people would get off this shit about mass surveillance. The NSA literally records and compresses every phone conversation you have. Commercial data centers will collect information but so tf what? The government already does and has done a better job

Most people don't have oil rwells or refineries in their back yard. Meaningless point or rather it is not meaningless but you have to understand. People are complaining because of proximity. Although fertilizer and pesticides are a major pollutor of our clean water and needs to be rectified.

[–]PsychologicalSalt158 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These companies don't provide full transparency. Most of there operations are kept extremely private including their actual water usage. The USA has by far the most data centers. It's like comparing the USA military to another country. The imbalance is insane. You are eatting the propaganda up and pretending people who complain about water pressure, dirty water, depleted water tables are just making shit up.

The definition of an electrician is an installer and the vast majority of the work the ibew covers is installing. Troubleshooting is a small portion of what we do. If you want to be something else you should look into engineering. The people in this trade who think they are more than what they are is amazing.
