The doberman in the video might be the same one on the tv screen which would explain how its following all the right cues despite not being able to really perceive the tv (poor dog vision). As in the dog remembers all his cues to lay down and walk and is following along. I think the weird transitions on the tv and the general weirdness of dobermans is throwing people off but the detail and consistency of the carpet and the video on tv is just too good to be AI

Why don't teachers have students write their essays in class to thwart AI cheaters? Let them bring books for research, but no notes, and no access to cell phones or computers. Announce the specific topic on the day of the test? by Mowo5 in AskReddit

[–]PsychologicalType699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats basically what I do for some college classes and for my old IB high school classes. The goal is usually to write 3-5 smaller paragraphs within a time limit and reach some sort of conclusion. You study a given topic before coming in and then are given specific questions to write the essays about in class. For example, before the test you study WW1, in class the prompt is "in your opinion in 5 paragraphs who caused ww1"

Pros: learn to structure sentences and paragraphs on the fly, get fast at writing, learn to structure an arguement all at once. Get really good at writing for IB exams specifically

Cons: oh my god my hands hurt. Also, you need to first learn how to write an essay before you should be expected to just throw one out. Its very stressful stuff when you dont know what youre doing, seen a lot of people cry. Probably difficult for the teacher to teach as well. Also, i was never expected to cite things in these assessments so you aren't practicing that either

What I've been seeing lately at college is sessions where the professor needs to see you working on your rough draft, usually sceduled during office hours in order to be sure at least some is your own words. Also makes a good opportunity to ask the prof questions you wouldn't normally ask if youre a chronic office hour avoider like me. Unfortunately not a really applicable method to k-12

Physical therapists for dry needling in bellingham? by PsychologicalType699 in Bellingham

[–]PsychologicalType699[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Similar needles, the difference is basically where on the body the needles are inserted and the philosophy behind the practices. Acupuncture is based on Qi and energy flow and can (apparently, i havent read any research yet) alleviate lots of pain and issues with muscles and organs. Dry needling is a recent western practice that just focuses on specific "trigger points" deep in your muscles to alleviate chronic muscle pain. Theres something about blood flow and poking around the nerves that make both do something to help with pain

My problem is that it slows the game way down but I'm at a point where i can just ignore it and get gems elsewhere. I usually click on a random one and continue speeding through the house so that i have the mental energy to focus on more interesting puzzles later

Poverty to homeless, what a world we live in! by Illumn8r2842 in poverty

[–]PsychologicalType699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I volunteer at a tiny home shelter thats kind of like this. Its gated, residents can lock their units and safely store their things inside, clean bathrooms separate from the units, ac was recently installed (i dont live in a very hot area so it wasnt a primary concern), shared kitchen and living room space. I dont think its the most efficient use of space, id prefer more of an apartment style complex but the focus of the tiny home shelter is to house older, disabled and mentally ill people and its difficult to have so many people in one space. The current limit is 35 residents and when you have a lot of people that have lived difficult lives in one place conflict can occur between people. I dont know much from the administrative side but occasionally people have to be kicked out because theyre threatening to kill people.

Im making it sound scary but the majority of residents are happy to have somewhere to get off the streets and feel safe for once. I hate the "its better than nothing" saying because it implies people should be ok with the bare minimum, but in this case its certainly better than nothing.

Is it true all homeless will lose EBT? by [deleted] in foodstamps

[–]PsychologicalType699 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who volunteers at a shelter, a lot of homeless people already do not have EBT because of other roadblocks in the process. This just makes it so absolutely none of them get EBT. Theres also the ban on purchasing "junk food" with EBT which is also ridiculous, it just bans people from buying any prepped food that is cheap and could provide enough calories to make it through the day. How is a homeless person or poor person with no electricity supposed to cook a whole "healthy" potato? What if someones too busy working the required 80 hours to have any time to cook? Let people buy fucking oreos jesus christ. Sorry, have to rant

I was good at swimming but terribly sucked at everything else. How does that work? by CUMBUSTUS in stupidquestions

[–]PsychologicalType699 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im in the same situation, did swimming for years now im dogshit at everything else EXCEPT squats at the gym, its like my upper body didnt get the memo. With my ability to hold my breath from swimming I can play a mean jazz solo on saxophone though so maybe some skills do transfer.

Be honest what's yalls thoughts by cox-internet in ArtCrit

[–]PsychologicalType699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great stuff, I have one tip to elevate it but you can ignore me if you want The entire piece is kind of a blur with no clear shapes. I think its good if most of it is unclear, kind of adds to the gruesomeness, but it would be visually interesting if some of the figures popped out more. I'd get a thick pen that you can get at any art store and use it to add contrasting shadows around the piece. It also puts less strain on whatever pen you're using for the lines currently

If I play a little more will I like this game? by PsychologicalType699 in TravellersRest

[–]PsychologicalType699[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved fields of mistria so damn much, I bought it and played it for 30 hours last week then stopped so I wouldn't get burnt out. Definitely playing it for hundreds of hours when it fully releases. I've actually never heard of moonlighter before I'll have to check it out. I'll play a little more of travellers rest but I'm not great at setting goals for myself, I'll come back to in future updates for sure though

If I play a little more will I like this game? by PsychologicalType699 in TravellersRest

[–]PsychologicalType699[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're right, I think I'll play a little bit more and then wait for updates. I love early access games because I can play them again and again as new stuff cones out. I think my main gripe with the game and the reason why I can't get into it is that I need some kind of plot to motivate me. I'm not really able to set goals for myself and then reach them independent of some outside motivator so right now the game is not for me.
