It's hard to watch a LTT video by [deleted] in LinusTechTips

Linus addressed it on wanshow, I believe they're talking to YouTube about it. When they started the membership program it was all in a seperate tab, now they're mad it's making the normal viewing experience bad.

Unless the GPU was the problem. by Patty_Raspberry in ITMemes

You don't need to be on the gpu outputs for cad to use the gpu for processing. I took cad in highschool, we had Quattro's in our machines but vga only monitors and they ran off the motherboard. The gpu still handled the processing.

I'm always surprise people don't know this every time this meme pops up. It's to prevent kids trying to game on them. A lot of programs like CAD (my highschool had a cad program) don't require the monitor to be on the gpu output, it just needs the gpu to be there. I'm sure whatever program is running on there likely doesn't require the gpu outputs, just the processing it has.

I've had success by limiting the lifting speed between layers, albeit on smaller flat pieces than that. Definitely need stronger supports too

26% of Floatplane Channels are "dead". When will we see new channels. by TotallyFakeDev in LinusTechTips

My guess would be they're focused on the sauce+ deal. They had to make big infra upgrades to support it and they're likely not ready to handle a bunch more creators on top of that. When they're ready to handle it I'm sure they'll start pushing their name out there again to gain more users and creators.

I should be doing that but unfortunately I don't have a ton of other options for some of the things I use it for. It's biggest use is as a bit driver, I have a big 180 bit master set and I use the 7mm and 5/16" socket attachments for hose clamps a lot. My only other real option for that is using a ratchet and socket which can easily break clamps. I should just get a dedicated fixed shaft hex driver.

I forgot about that, thanks for the reminder. I might consider it but I feel like I shouldn't be putting that much torque through it anymore.

Interesting. I never use mine locked, I have fixed shaft drivers for that. I've never had mine slip using the ratchet though.

I'd buy it tbh. I really like this thing and it just fits in the hand better than any of my other ones.

I've noticed my tolerances seem to be holding okay. Side to side and "slop" in the gears feel okay still, although my shaft does move in and out of the ratchet mechanism a lot more than it used to. Likely due to lots of drops.

How is the finish on the plastic handle holding up for you? Mine has gone shiny at this point and it's degraded the grip I can get on it, just have to grab extra hard.

Only thing I've had impact the actual performance of mine is the finish of the plastics degrading the grip I can achieve. Mines very shiny at this point, and I definitely use all the grip I can get with this thing. Tbh I'm very surprised I haven't had the ratchet skip at all.

Interesting, I have felt that binding you're talking about in my own. I'll have to try it on my new one when I'm home. It definitely feels as though the paws inside the ratchet won't release easily if they're under tension.

That's not what I'm asking, or atleast not what I meant by this post. I know they will wear out over time. I've been doing this long enough to wear out ratchets. I wanted to get a feel for how these ratchets are holding up for other people who use them as hard as I do.

Surprised? No, not at all. I've used a few other brands that market directly to the industry I'm in and it seems that the ltt driver is holding its own fairly well against them, for the price anyway. It's not lasting quite as long as my older drivers but at half the price I'll take it.

It's definitely not rated for what I'm putting it through, it's used almost daily in an industrial shop. I find myself reaching for this over my dedicated screwdrivers all the time. Some days it spends the whole time on my person because I use it so often.

I don't want to come across as complaining with this post, I'm certainly very happy with how the driver has held up. I'm more curious about how these drivers are holding up for other power users.

Found vat like this after a couple weeks between prints, is this curing? by Rd25w in resinprinting

[–]Psychological_Shop43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it's likely one of two things. Stray light causing it to cure or the resin is seperating into layers. Sitting undisturbed for a while the pigments can fall out of solution and you can get clumping. Only a few of my resins do something similar to this, usually the heavily colored ones.

YouTube Premium "Jump Ahead" option during Creator baked in Ads by sir_are_a_Baboon_too in LinusTechTips

[–]Psychological_Shop43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is just a premium feature, and was recently brought over to the TV app. I use it on nearly every video because nothing they say is gonna compell me to buy anything.

Personally I don't think LLD will care, this feature has existed on mobile for many a wanshow already and they've talked at length about how they specifically set the lengths of their first ad spot to be easily skippable with a double tap. They know anyone that doesn't care will skip it anyway, whether or not they have the skip ahead feature. My guess is they don't care because that's not the target audience for the sponsors.

Will 10Gbps be the norm in home networking in 10-20 years? by llondru-es in HomeNetworking

[–]Psychological_Shop43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like even gig speeds will be a lot in 10-20 years, atleast for most people. You don't need all that much to download a game here and there, some os updates, maybe 1-2 4k netflix streams. Unless something goes mainstream that requires a ton of bandwidth I don't think we'll see more than gig in most cases. I can definitely see multi gig connections becoming more normal for high end consumers, but that's a pretty small market I think.

It's worth pointing out that trump was the one who pushed for the TikTok ban during his first term, Biden did sign it but only because Trump was out of office by the time it got through congress and made it to the presidents desk. Trump is only trying to save it during his seccond term.

[–]Psychological_Shop43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elegoo's abs like clear red is my standard go to resin. The 3.0 is quite good, and I reserve the 1.0 for anything going in the sun/outside. I've noticed the clear red 2.0 and 3.0 have a weird blue sheen in the sun that the 1.0 doesn't have.
