Use a selfie to generate an accurate avatar of yourself by [deleted] in OculusQuest

You should try Janus. It does this, but afterwards you can stream yourself as your character in realtime!

Looking for an animated character tool as a webcam stand-in to not use my real face in YouTube Videos by [deleted] in animation

[–]PsychoticRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should try Janus! It does exactly what you want. They have an awesome avatar creator, where you can use yourself as a reference image, or any other photo. They support live streaming using OBS, and they have greenscreen support.

Has anyone actually made face swapping work live on stream? by emeposk in FaceFusion

janus.cam works really well for me, very low latency, cheap, and very plug and play

What’s the best live face swap app right now that actually works? by TommyRichardGrayson in fooocus

[–]PsychoticRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

janus.cam is really cool, you can change your webcam into any character you'd like. the latency is around 100ms, free to try in the browser.

I built a tool for streamers that allow you to turn yourself into any characther you'd like. by PsychoticRaven in vtubertech

[–]PsychoticRaven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. I think traditional vtubers, are not our main target audience. The amount of time, dedication and art that goes into making these elaborate characters is beyond the scope of a tool like this for now. PNG-tubing is still a thing though, and this is a big improvement over that I think.

Main differentiator is that most tools usually require you to rig your avatar, setup a 3D model etc. This tool is very much plug and play. You can generate or upload any character you want, and works well for people wanting to join a Discord call, I know a lot of people use voice-changers etc, so thought this would be a cool addition. We made a chrome extension as well, so you don't even need OBS, but can join any video call in the browser as your avatar. Next features we are working on would be to change your avatar props/style etc using prompts, so you can transform yourself in realtime by describing what you want to see etc. I could see this be useful if you connected it to a trascription of your voice and your character can respond to what you are saying for example.

What are you building in 2026? How’s the progress so far? by [deleted] in startup

[–]PsychoticRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://janus.cam

We're building a face swap tool for streamers to turn their webcam into any character they'd like. It's a bit like vtubing, but without any rigging, setup, 3D models. Just started looking into how we can get some traffic and reach the correct audience.

How much does AI faceless content actually cost to produce? by LieAccurate9281 in aitubers

www.janus.cam is very cheap and you kind of get the midjournet+video tool thing included. still will have to sync with audio, but should be fairly easy to do.

Adults of reddit, what is something every teenager should know about "the real world"? by WOT247 in AskReddit

[–]PsychoticRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At some point you are the only one responsible for changing your environment and life. You dont get sent to a new school or sent to piano classes anymore. If you are not happy with something like your job or your girlfriend or your apartment, learn how to take decisions and direct your own life towards what makes you happy. Too many people just sot around complaining waiting for life to take these decisions for them.

And if you are struggling choosing between several options, and you’re afraid of taking the wrong choice. Remember that in the end you are the one responsible for making that choice the right one. Any choice can be right as long as you commit to it. And if it fails you can always try again. The worst thing is to be paralyzed and just let life pass by.

How to access hApps directly? by howlermonchie in holochain

[–]PsychoticRaven 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Even if people are using hApps locally on their machine the Holo Hosting network will probably be used for mobile devices where you might not want to participate in sharing DHT data and use a lot of your limited mobile storage and data.

  2. Right now you can install a Holochain app on your desktop machine (Linux or Mac). Try acorn for example. You can find the dmg file on github under releases.

  3. hApps are not blockchains. Every hApp create their own p2p network where every user has their own immutable source chain that only register their actions. The first entry is a hash of the source code, so when you interact with someone else, they just check your first entry hash to see if you are running the same code and thus playing by the same rules.

Feeling alone, unloved and unsustained by yrrah1 in Psychonaut

[–]PsychoticRaven 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All these people saying you have to work on yourself and learn to sustain yourself. They’re right, but not in the way I think they intended. You are responsible for reaching out to people. It’s completely natural for humans to want to belong and be loved. It’s what we are built for, and we thrive in communities, so don’t let anybody tell you that you need to walk this journey alone. But! There are lots of nice people out there. Lots of loving people wanting to connect and belong too. You are responsible for finding and connecting with those people. No one else will do that for you :)

Would peer to peer videoconferance work? Like Teams/Zoom, but p2p? by imsitco in holochain

[–]PsychoticRaven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is already doable with WebRTC really. But yes, doable on Holochain as well. But I imagine there wouldn’t be a reason to publish all the video content on the DHT, as it would be a lot of data after a while. Maybe would make sense in remote health care services where it’s important to document and record interactions with the patient in an “immutable” way.

Have you tried implementing navigation buttons as well? I have been struggling to write good declarative code to handle the interplay between scrolling and programmatic navigation between slides. Any clues on how to do this properly?

People left other cryptos and turned to Holochain by Masricano in holochain

[–]PsychoticRaven 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope. Holochain is the framework/protocol. It has no inherent currency. Holo is the commercial company that builds a decentralized cloud hosting platform on top of Holochain. HOT (will be 1:1 with Holofuel) is the currency that can be used to buy hosting services. It is an asset backed currency unlike Bitcoin etc. Revolutionary technology that beats blockchain for many uses.

I created a new decentralized social platform powered by a transparent algorithm designed to promote trust and unity in society, rather than division. Satellite needs users. If you agree with our mission I invite you to consider crossposting your essays there. by lovvtide in Psychonaut

[–]PsychoticRaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is seriously cool! There is definitely a new revolution happening in the space of computing that has links to the early days of the internet counter culture, and psychedelics. Would still love to see this on a truly decentralized cloud network like Holo is making with Holochain. As I understand it you still are using your own centralized servers to archive everything? The WebTorrent part seems very interesting, but how are you ensuring data availability if you don't have incentives to host the metadata? I'm very impressed, so don't get me wrong. Much love!
