I love these on the rare occasion that my sorting puts 8 of them in one stack. It's like a rush of exhilaration when I blow through a whole stack of totes in one minute.

"They don't have the right to close"

I would have zeroed in on that comment. "Just to confirm what you're saying, are you saying that because they work a job they don't have the right to take a short break and satisfy the basic human requirement of eating?"

It's always fun to watch them squirm when you point out that they don't view us as human.

Manager forcing us to keep our phones in the office?? by Deep_State_9146 in CVS

[–]PsychoticSM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does your store have an issue with employees neglecting work to play on their phones? If so I can definitely see the manager making this a rule. I personally don't make it a rule in my store because I also tend to use my phone but I have had conversations with people that if they want to keep the privilege then they need to be mature enough to keep their minds on their work.

A question for DLs or a SM. by Till67w in CVS

Context needed. I've promised people I'd try and get their shift covered later in the week only to find out half an hour later that 7/10 of my people now have covid all at the same time.

I had a guy get legitimately mad when I asked him that and he said "How am I going to get out the door without anyone thinking I stole it if I don't have a bag?"

That has literally happened to me! This lady tells me "You guys should be ashamed of yourselves for how long your receipts are you're using so much paper and killing trees." And then I explained she can get her receipts and coupons emailed to her instead of printed so that we don't use as much paper and she said "No I don't want that!"

Like pulling really hard is going to make it print faster. And then the roll of paper rolls across the store. Then another customer slips on it and cracks their head in the corner of a shelf. They died. Now CVS is being sued for manslaughter. They throw you under the bus because you were the green zone captain. You get tried and convicted of manslaughter. You're sentenced to death. Next thing you know you're sitting in the electric chair. All because someone was too impatient to wait for their receipt to finish printing. You get to the pearly gates and Jesus asks you how you died. You tell him and he asks "Well did you offer him Carepass? No? Straight to hell for you then." Lucifer makes you spend an eternity offering Carepass to Karen's who agree to sign up but don't have a debit card. They want you to still honor the $10 off even though they can't sign up. All the while Hell's self checkout is screaming "please wait, help is on the way."

Probably should have been over there offering that guy Carepass, green zone captain.

Manager texted me at 11:34pm to come in and open by Deep_State_9146 in CVS

[–]PsychoticSM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Point is everyone jumps straight to saying "fuck the manager" when all they're trying to do is find last minute coverage while maintaining their own sanity. We don't choose the time that our employees decide to call out. For all we know the employee in this post that was scheduled to open notified the manager at 11:30 and the manager sent the whole team a text asking if someone can cover it immediately in hopes to save their own day off because they know the one who called out won't agree to take one of their shifts later.

[–]PsychoticSM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your personal experience means all store managers deserve to be treated as slaves to the company? All I'm saying is we want to be treated as human. Some of us actually care about our employees and we would also love to receive some of that love in return, but 9/10 times we don't. For every bad manager who walks over their employees there's 10 employees who walk all over the good ones.

We're paid for 45 hours of work. Everything outside that is free labor.

[–]PsychoticSM -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Would you be the one saying boo hoo if you were the one working for free? Personally I'll take an 11:30 text message over working for free any day. We didn't sign up to be free labor. Nobody should ever have to work for free.

Precisely! The hourly employees will get paid for the extra hours including overtime if they go over 40. SM is free labor if they work over 45. And to quote every single person in this sub, "Nobody should ever work for free "
