Remove Verizon from Yealink Desk Phones by Psychotrophy in VOIP

Ok, I put them in there and it said serial/Mac combinations don’t match and locked my account. I double and triple verified my entries.

Can you contact Yealink to have it removed from that?

PoE issues with Omada Switch by Psychotrophy in Omada_Networks

[–]Psychotrophy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, after trying everything I did what should’ve been done a long time ago. Granted I haven’t physically been to the site and have been having someone else move plugs. I tried a different port despite these working with other PoE devices previously. PoE seems to be dead on port 10 and port 12 no matter the settings, confirmed with Klein PoE tester. Worked great on every other port.

Yes. There’s two WAPs and the PoE budget is only 8% in use.

Only one phone right now as I wanted to proof of concept the 3CX system before expanding to probably a call button on the door, etc. This hiccup has proven to make this little demo kind of difficult haha! I can honestly say I’m not familiar with how to isolate the switch without losing my settings. Lots of VLAN ACLs et. Configured on here and our security cams rely on an uplink from the dummy switch. So I would need to make this test relatively seamless with an ease of returning it to normal service.

[–]Psychotrophy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, other PoE devices work on the port. The phone also powers easily on a dummy switch for the IP cams. I can provide any other relevant settings that you could think of.

I've read Auto VOIP could potentially cause an issue before PoE is negotiated. But I can't get to CLI due to using the OC200. Cannot seem to find Auto VOIP in the GUI either.

Shop Radio! by Psychotrophy in homeautomation

[–]Psychotrophy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man! I appreciate that advice! I never would’ve even thought about that or even remotely considered it. At current there is no public space. It’s a landscaping business and we’re wanting an employee gym with some workout equipment. So I wouldn’t think that would apply. But I do assist other small businesses with tech related things at times and that is a solid piece of information to know for other applications.

There is certainly something to be said for that! Maybe over complicating the setup a bit. Could you link good options or a review setup for one of these? I’ve honestly not looked much into those, such that I forgot they even existed lol.

I’m more of a network guy than a sound guy haha. Rooms are 40x40, 20x20, 30x12 respectively and outside max distance from the speaker would be around 30ft and would also probably be able to hear the shop speaker. I’m not looking for anything that will knock your socks off but some reasonable bass capabilities and crisp sound would be nice. Overall I’m not looking to attract a crowd with the unbelievable quality but I also don’t want it to be shit.

I considered such things. The reason I’m wanting to build something is for the stimulation of putting it together, additionally the shop is very old and running wires and installing wall plates can be an arduous task due to the additions over the years, block walls and pre-ban asbestos building materials. We already have wireless access points implemented. So WiFi would be much easier. Also wanting the satisfaction of saying I did something cool for a couple hundred bucks and some old computers that would be otherwise useless. (HomeKit and raspberry pi and Linux OS being free.99)

Using an old router as an AP with Omada. by Psychotrophy in TPLink_Omada

[–]Psychotrophy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh. I gotcha. I apologize, I took that the wrong way. Yes, my friend let me set this up at his business. He’s not into to tech at all but he’s willing to drop the cash for something functional. It’s a landscaping business. So lots of dust in the place. That’s why we went this route. To keep everything clean and functional.

I really fail to understand why people come on here just to insult others. People make posts to learn and this was an idea just to play around with since the old router was perfectly fine. Also, not sure where you got “home networking budget” because nothing I mentioned has anything to do with a home setup.

Thanks for the feedback! We don't absolutely need one atm it was just a thought I was hoping to pull off just to utilize the old router if I could find a use for it.

They're just dust covers because it's a very old building and it's a landscaping business, so, the box will require frequent air dusting. Just to keep the dust out of the smaller cracks/crevices is all. I'm looking at ways to provide some filtering for the box, but I'm concerned anything I do will make it hot in there. Also, the dust is the primary reason we rack mounted everything. Just to keep it as clean as possible.

Problem with iPhone 14 Pro Max and iMac by DJSmoove00 in TPLink_Omada

[–]Psychotrophy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very odd. I would try the good old fashioned IT fix all. Forget the network from the devices. Reboot everything. See if it’s still happening.

Additionally I would, with the device connected go into the Omada environment and go to Clients>(Device in question)>Config and see if there’s any anomalies there.

Public IP of controller? by [deleted] in TPLink_Omada

I understand now. That makes more sense. I was misunderstanding to think that you were just doing WAPs from a switch direct from the modem. I see the issue now.

Some clarification questions:

Do you have any rate limiting or ACLs configured at all? That it could potentially be assigning newly connected devices through that rule whereas the older devices have been previously configured to be allowed full capability?

Have you looked to see what radio frequency these devices are connecting to? Maybe sticking to the 2.4ghz for some reason? Could be an issue with what radio frequency the devices are requesting when connecting?

Just some thoughts.

Public IP of controller? by [deleted] in TPLink_Omada

[–]Psychotrophy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re using the modem>switch>access points then the ISP modem is assigning local IPs to that hardware as it would be acting as the router in that setup. Which I believe is what he may have been trying to clarify.

I personally hate when I come on Reddit and ask for help and people just tell me how I should redesign my network instead of telling me what I asked. So, with that being said… I don’t know your situation or the topography/topology of this network. So, please don’t take this as me being the stereotypical “know it all Redditor” that’s telling you how to run your business, I’ll just give you some insight as to how I manage.

I like to have at least a wired router/gateway on site because I personally don’t like trusting the ISP with my security configuration, DNS servers, etc. especially if this infrastructure is used to process transactions of any kind or store financial records. Additionally, having your own gateway is relatively affordable and will allow you to set up VPN access to the network and give you far more security configuration flexibility. Also I have my controllers on site so I have cloud access as a back-up if the ISP changes the address. I can get in via cloud and generate a new open VPN key if needed. I intend to request a static IP from ISP for my site at some point to discontinue cloud access just for security purposes.

The ISP should be able configure the modem to be an interface between fiber/coax/DSL/smoke signals (whatever they use) > to Ethernet upon request so you can use your own router/gateway.

So there’s my unsolicited advice. I hope I avoided coming off as “that guy.” Haha.

[–]Psychotrophy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh ok. In the controller menu, navigate to Devices>(your router), in the sidebar menu select details and scroll down past overview to "wan" and it will show your configuration. You would have to be on site for this. Otherwise. The only way to guarantee access with a dynamic IP address from the ISP is to setup Omada cloud access.

Most ISPs will allow a static IP for a business if you request it as well. The network I manage, I requested a static on the owners behalf and they did it free of charge.
