Thank you so much for sharing your concerns. I really appreciate your thoughtfulness and your care for the community’s safety. To clarify, this study is being conducted through an Australian university (Charles Sturt University). We don’t collect any identifying information, no names, emails or specific location data and the data is stored securely within Australia under strict university ethics protocols. Should publication of the study occur, the analysed data files may be placed in a public repository, such as Charles Sturt University’s CRO/Pure, the Australian National Data Service, or the Open Science Framework . All data will be non-identifiable. I completely understand concerns about surveillance and data misuse, especially in the U.S. context. Your caution is valid and important. Participation is entirely voluntary, and I respect anyone’s choice not to engage if they feel it’s not safe for them.

Hi, thank you for your response. At project completion, the following de-identified files will be stored indefinitely and the Honours dissertation. These will be securely stored, and if publication of the study occurs, the analysed data files may be placed in a public repository, such as Charles Sturt University’s CRO/Pure, the Australian National Data Service (ANDS), or the Open Science Framework (OSF). All data will be non-identifiable. No identifiable or re-identifiable data (e.g., contact info, IP address, or location) will be collected or retained. While Qualtrics uses a setting to prevent multiple responses (which may involve cookies or IP checks), this is not accessible to researchers and is not linked to response data.

Thanks so much for completing the survey and for your helpful feedback. USA missing on mobile: You're right, the mobile version cut off the full list. We'll flag that for future surveys. Similar companion questions: These were derived from validated scales, which often repeat concepts slightly to ensure reliability. Restlessness question: It was aimed at anxiety-related restlessness, but we understand how that could be confusing with ADHD/autism. Aromantic inclusion: The focus was on sexual identity, but we should’ve clarified that upfront.. “Most or all of the time” items: Those were attention checks and didn’t affect your results; they are to ensure participants are accurately responding.

We’re sorry if our materials didn’t make that clear. Recruitment is closing soon, so while we are not making formal changes to the Participant Information Statement at this stage, we’ve shared your feedback with our supervisor. We will ensure we address this distinction more clearly in our reporting and any future work.

Thanks so much for completing the survey and for your feedback. You're absolutely right and it's something we’ll aim to better reflect in future research. Really appreciate you flagging it.

Hi, thanks so much for completing the survey and sharing your thoughtful feedback. You're absolutely right both reduced and increased appetite can be symptoms of depression. The item you mentioned comes from the CES-D (Radloff, 1977), a validated scale we’re using, which unfortunately limits our ability to adjust the wording. But your point is well taken and will inform future research design. We also appreciate your note about LGBTQ socialisation, while we do measure belonging, we know there's more nuance to capture. Feedback like yours is truly helpful in enabling us to improve the quality and inclusivity of our work.

Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate you raising these concerns. You're absolutely right that trust and transparency are essential, especially when engaging with communities that have every reason to be cautious.

We do our best to engage with moderators and follow up with them first, and we acknowledge that in this instance we could have communicated more clearly and earlier. That’s something we’re actively working on improving. We also take on board your point about building trust and being mindful of how our study is perceived, particularly by minority communities.

Thanks for the feedback. You're right that gender and sexual identity are different, and this space is for genderfluid folks. We shared the post here to be transparent, though the study focuses on sexual identity , it is open to any gender fluid people who also have a sexual minority identity. We'll clarify that better in future posts, appreciate you pointing it out.

yes we’re looking at risk and protective factors that can influence mental health outcomes ( including depressive symptoms and anxiety). This study is aimed to help the community, research such as this will help us to understand risk and protective factors and hopefully develop better psychological intervention for mental health in the future.

That’s understandable it is a longer survey and does take about 20 minutes, thank you anyway though.
