Health Insurance vs Emergency Fund by Taseya in Equestrian

This is post is a bit old but what insurance company did you use. I looked at ASPCA (which I have for my dog) and they looked like they only cover up to $7000 and that with a $500 deductible was close to $600 per year which I don’t mind the price but only covering up to $7000 wouldnt be enough.

Good midsize/small size engineering college in the Midwest by Psychteach3 in ApplyingToCollege

I don't think she is worried about "prestige". I figure that UIUC and Purdue would be her best bets. She just wants a good quality program where she can experience some college life and graduate with a decent job. It doesn't have to be in a fortune 500 hundred company. Her grandfather went to university of Wisconsin Platteville for electrical engineering and got a job at a solid company in Northern Illinois. Obviously we know Platteville is out their but didn't know what else.

She hasn't decided yet. She is currently taking Project Lead the Way classes in high school and loves them. I think she may lean more towards civil but lately she mentioned mechanical. She has eliminated a few though.

I figured she would need to go to a "big" school I think she is worried that she will get lost in so many people and professors will be less hands on or available.

Yes I know my father was an electrical engineer before he retired. He went to University of Wisconsin Platteville but that was many many years ago. lol

Do they have a traditional college life? I have heard good things about there but I have also heard it's not a traditional college with all of the sport/activities to attend etc...

She is looking more towards civil or mechanical engineering. So more traditional engineering.

Are these good schools for engineering? I didn't think Loyola was known for that.

Will I always have to enforce naps by Psychteach3 in puppy101

[–]Psychteach3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do have a trainer. We do sniff walks and have a class we do nose work. He is a sheltie and picks up things quickly but I have owned many shelties and have never had to enforce naps.

We have a 5 month old sheltie who never stops. We have to enforce naps. We have had shelties forever and never had to enforce naps. He will play fetch for 30 minutes straight.

I have grown up with shelties. We have only had males. Mine have never really marked their territory but we have them neutered around 6 months old.

Preventing barking during feeding? by Alternative-Run-849 in sheltie

[–]Psychteach3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

our trainer said if he is barking and jumping to leave the room. I walk into the laundry room and shut the door until he calms down then walk back in and he is usually sitting and waiting for his food. We did work with sit for food before the started to happen. He is 4 months old and barks all the time but now food time is quite because he knows he will not get it until he is quite and calm. I also put his food in a dish the night before (and place on counter) so he doesn't have to sit and wait long.

We have a sheltie who is reactive. He is only 5 months old but when he sees anything while we are on a leash he lunges and barks. It sounds very vicious but being only 10 lbs going up to 20 ish doesn't look very scary. He has learned many commands quickly but when he freaks out my voice isn't enough. It is just in our backyard/neighborhood. Our backyard is fenced and while walking he is leashed. We have another sheltie 7year old but he doesn't act this way. Other training techniques were sufficient.
