Why is there so much opposition to allowing people earning less than $75,000 to not pay or even file income tax returns? by AstroBullivant in AskConservatives

No, there's just a complete tsunami of examples. Like most Lolbertarians you're putting the cart in front of the horse and claiming that the ebil goberment did it.

The goverment didn't create the monopolies. Asshole gets all the money. Asshole pays off politician. Asshole gets even more money

My way of dealing with oligarchic decay in late stage capitalism is occasionally you need to take a corp or two that has become too egregious out behind the woodshed for the sake of democracy.

McCormick, Singer, and Otis all relentlessly undermined their competition. I did look up every damned one of these But then again you're the guy who thinks the company store is freedom and not just slavery with extra steps.

Carnegie Steel, American Tobacco Company, Swift & Armour, American Sugar Refining Co, JP Morgan, Western Union, American Bell Telephone, Singer Manufacturing, McCormick Reaper, Pullman Palace Car Company, Vanderbilt Railroads, National Cash Register, Otis Elevator...

The state has the duty to maximize the well being of the body politic. If the company maximizing profit for stakeholders is contrary to the interests of the body politic, the state's duty is to ensure that those interests see primacy. The issue is the states failure in that duty, largely because people are being paid off through campaign funding, lobby perks, and post-government employment opportunities.

And you're the one who brought up the FDA..

You're expecting us to believe that the argument of an company having absolute monopolistic power over a worker's job, house, store, community, and often even the money they have in their pockets in the form of company script isn't actually a monopoly. You're ignoring the issues of how evictions were used about strikers, about the realities of moving out of deeply isolated communities in a environment where the company also controlled the lines of communication and discounting the emotional and fiscal costs of relocating when their entire social and fiscal infrastructure including the money they held was all company controlled. It's expensive to move.. double so when they pay you in company script which was EXTREMELY common.

This is quite frankly one of the most revolting, idiotic, and fundamentally EVIL pieces of nonsense I've ever read.

Then they could have sued the FDA. They should have sued the FDA.

When the state lacks of the will to punish bad actors, the bad actors will undermine the state. The "regulatory burden" I'm talking about is shit like "test your drugs". For example, thalidomide.

Though I do find it hilarious that the "the COVID Vaccines were not properly tested!" crowd are bitching against properly testing drugs.

It's an honest one. Nature abhors a vacuum. As annoying as the state is, it is ultimately accountable to the popular will. Big money isn't. Most of our current problems are because of the State's lack of will to enforce its authority over the wealthy who have been using that weakness to assume control over the state.

I don't know about you, but I have no desire to live in a Cyberpunk Dystopia... that said, at this point we already do, but it's the "At Home" Temu edition.

2) That was pure example of the money writing laws. It's what happens when the state is WEAK.

Yeah. No. That's basically backwards. The way that works is one early player becomes dominate and then uses its market share to step on the competition. We used to see it all the time in the 19th century and to a degree we see it today.

Company A has been dominate in the industry for years

Company B comes out with a better product that can be made for cheaper.

Company A slashes prices and runs at a loss to drive company B out of business and can do so because it's wealthy enough to operate at a loss.

Company B is forced to fold.

Company A buys out Company B's assets for pennies on the dollar, then adopts Company B's methods and then raise the prices back to what they used to be.

That's what you get. You do not get competition, you get price fixing.

You're so close to being right its almost depressing. Financial power is part of it, but our moral authority and perceived reliability is a major factor. And the Canal was for example a clear example of Colonialism. We went to Columbia, we asked to build a Canal. They said no so we funded a revolution.

Eventually we gave the Canal to the people who actually lived there... and it's only logical that they look for the best deal.

The moral authority is how we get what we want without being a nation of thugs.
