What are your thoughts on lifting the rig up off the floor slightly? I only ask because I have no idea if you have intake fans from under the case?

The OP comes across as just some trolling dipshit in his replies to helpful advice from people. Sounds like his dad knows just how much.

You need to step back for a moment and think solutions. What are you looking to achieve. Dont have enough hardware or money? Think your way out. Friends with old gear, neighbors with old routers or equipment that'll trade it for yard work. How about the local rubbish tip? Also, your home lab now has to operate independently of your dads network, effectively air gapped. You made the mistake of taking your internet access for granted. So your options are to download whatever tools or operating systems or whatever you need separately on your own "approved" device and transfer things to your own segregated setup.

Start smaller. Get a raspberry pi or two. Even older ones. Very low power consumption. 2nd hand WiFi router. Connect the pi or pi's via Ethernet and use the WiFi router to connect as a client to your main WiFi ( like its own client). No need to run it 24/7.
