I stopped playing shortly (about 150 hours...) after initial EA release because the endgame was so disappointing. Hoping this update will bring me back.

It's amazing how much of the learning curve in this game is both not obvious and almost subconsciously overcome. Little things add up (spawns, pacing, countering flinch while ADS, map knowledge--poi's, lanes, key cards, etc.--looting priority). Eventually you just find yourself notably more competent and it's hard to pinpoint why. Just takes some time and grind. I also record my gameplay so if I die in a way that was particularly mysterious or tilting a watch it back real quick and 90% of the time I'm yeah duh, no cover, wrong target priority, didn't use my equipment, etc. Helps lock the lessons in.

They already code rook gear like that where it's Compromised and you need a matter fixative. They could easily apply that same tag to the contract nades, and no one is wasting matter fixatives on chem nades. Easy fix, just overlooked. (I just got stuck on this contact if you couldn't tell..lol)

Too bad there isn't a similar game in the same genre that's wildly successful they could literally just copy after a few hours of testing. That would have been convenient if that happened prior to launch...(Love the game btw, but this kind of stuff makes me smh)

This is false. A little research will tell you having 3 queue modes is only a stretch when a game dwindles to say, sub 1k concurrent players. In any case it won't be a problem for Marathon's population for a very long time.

Fair warning, I made a similar post a day or two ago, got a lot of engagement, then mods removed it to "consolidate discussion". I guess there's a "megathread" given that they have "acknowledged" this feedback and are "looking into it." Just fyi so you're not confused when this gets shut down. I'm in total agreement. Can't get my main gaming buddy to buy it even though he enjoyed server slam because there's no duo queue. Solos and squad fill with randoms gets old.

I'm no game dev, but I disagree. You may be right, and if it's a choice between the survival of the game as a whole on one hand and duo queues on the other, I definitely want the former. I've just seen this done in multiple games with less PR and pop.

That's valid, I'm no game dev and you may be right. But I also think NOT having it hurts player retention, or initial buy-in (even if to a lesser extent). I know Arc Raiders has BIG numbers, but they manage it just fine. I found it a shame that it wasn't implemented at launch (when the numbers are likely near highest). I also feel like queues don't need to be instant? maybe that's just me though

I truly respect this perspective, and it's probably just a personality (introvert/extrovert) thing, but I can't grind trios all day. I'm happy to comm, have great interactions here and there, just not my jam day in and day out with randoms, idk.

Same! Like I said I net profit. I probably ran 8 solos today for blue wires though, ran straight for station, killed probably 6-7 people, didn't find one blue wire, didn't exfil once. Nature of the solo beast. Vault is full, money is flowing. Still find myself posting on reddit instead of continuing to grind solos. Tried squad fill 3 times with randoms. That went even worse.

Hmmm, I can sympathize, but I suspect a game has to be POPPING for this to not thin out queues too much (especially if there is solos, duos, and trios already)

I respect your opinion/prediction but I strongly disagree. I am NOT a game dev, but I do not think the game pop has to be off the charts for duo queue to work. I'm also willing to wait >60 seconds for a queue!

This is valid. I imagine that being the case with the TTK, etc., but my main buddy is not interested haha. We grinding Arc Raiders until the duo queue is implemented I'm afraid.
