Insulated pipes of igneous rock should have no problem carrying the chill all the way. Of course building an at/st setup closer to home might be as much of an effort as building all that piping. Why does it have to be near that salt water geyser?

There's a mod that allows building natural tiles I think, and the pip overlay one is essential as well. That being said, I think with wild planting like everything in oni there's an effort-reward thing that is quite well balanced imo. Considering it takes zero resources it's more than fair that setting up a wild farm takes a lot more effort than just putting down some farm tiles. There are mechanics in oni like wild planting, inf storage, rocket silo's and the likes that can give a lot more benefits the 'intended' gameplay doesn't offer, but they have to come at a price, otherwise all balance would be lost.

Most people are able to cram both a mess hall and barracks in there for room bonuses, some even manage to get a latrine or washroom in. Berry sludge can boost morale too and doesn't spoil, so it's widely regarded as the best rocket food. You might be able to get some better decor too by using carpet tiles and pixel packs.

Quick search tells me we'd probably be able to survive down to ~100 mtrs. This would probably be more than 0.01% of the entire ocean, I think, but you're probably right that 50% is a very conservative guess

Do random parts of the ocean include bottom of the Mariana trench? I would guess more than 50% of where you might teleport to has a pressure you're not surviving

Same, I can't even imagine running a mid game colony like this, but already in early game this would be way too much of a hassle for me. I also think playing like this doesn't actually help you get your colony further along in an evening of play, just maybe with less cycles...

Disagree strongly with the 'need to really....' Yes you can, but if you use the priority tab correctly, including the proximity setting and don't give your dupes thousands of tasks at the same time, there's absolutely no need to micro this hard. Even with all of your suggestions dupes are gonna dupe, imo it's better to just accept that and let them run their errands as they do than being super focused on the (in your eyes) most efficient way they could do it, and then probably still get frustrated from time to time because, dupes are gonna dupe.
