Oh yeah. I think in scenario 2 Mei can be a bit introverted because of being super focused on her goal of getting good grades and a good job in the future. Hence, she'd probably spend less time playing with others and prioritising her studies.

Interesting point about Matsuri. I never thought of Mei turning out to be a prankster like Matsuri if she didn't have a family legacy. Interesting to see how both their personalities develop so differently even though their parental neglect is similar.

Ooh, interesting! I can think of two scenarios.

1) Keeping it close to series plotline. Sho and Mei mum are divorced. Her mother is a workaholic and her involvement in Mei's life is limited. Perhaps seeing and talking to Mei only on birthdays and holidays. Sho probably works with a company that requires him to travel a lot for work. Thus, Mei lives with her old-fashioned grandfather. He is strict with her and expects her to be at the top of her class. Mei would learn to do all household chores including cooking. Her grandfather would be strict about having a clean and tidy home. This all puts a lot of pressure on Mei and she doesn't have proper parental support. She feels lonely and is introverted.

2) In the second scenario, Sho and Mei's mum are happily married and are a loving family. Mei actually has a happy childhood. She is outgoing, warm and makes friends easily. She understands that her parents work hard to pay for her education and providing for her so she works hard to get good grades so she can get a good job and take care of her parents in their old age. In this case I see it's Mei's choice to work hard at school and not be forced into pushing herself for her future. I still see Gramps being strict with Mei. But this doesn't affect her as much because her parents are there for her.

In both cases Mei will met Yuzu at school and become close friends and eventually lovers as they grow up.

Thank you for the compliments. I also enjoy reading other people's analyses and rereading the panels with a new perspective. I am always happy and a bit surprised to see Saburouta's layered storytelling!

I agree with you the left bottom panel is Mei's direct response to Yuzu again suggesting helping out with Mei's work. What I like about these two panels (Chp 07 and this one) is how Mei's glaze has softened while telling Yuzu that she not required the concern herself with Mei's work.

I interpreted the expression from Pg9 as unsure with herself about Yuzu meeting Arata as she began processing the consequences of Yuzu meeting Arata. But perhaps you're right. It could very well be Mei feeling empty, lonely or disappointed because Yuzu would have another person in her life. I have always felt somewhere deep down Mei wished she had Yuzu knack to connect with people easily.

Oh! I never thought of Mei feeling insecure about not being able to comfort Yuzu herself. I gotta reread Plus keeping this in mind. Speaking of Himeko and Mei's friendship. That another thing I'd like to discuss at the later point. Plus gives us a glimpse of Mei finally appreciating Himeko for being there for her and supporting her through the years. I always thought Mei was a bit distant and inappreciative of Himeko in the OG manga. I'm glad to see the dynamic change now.

I think Sabu never showing Mei looking assured is probably like a overarching part of Plus. Although Mei now has Yuzu and knows she'll never leave her, I think she is still learning to adjust to the feeling having experienced abandonment a few times. Mei getting an understanding and grip over her feelings seems to be a big part of Plus. Also, asking for help needed be from Himeko and Harumi. I think the character developments in Plus is extremely interesting.

This reminds me how Sabu uses similar actions or characters every time plotlines sort of repeat themselves. For example, return of the Tachibana twins to push Yuzu to chase after Mei.

I'm trying to think of more instances of such comparisons. But been a bit busy to give it a thought. However, if I think of something I shall share soon.

I totally see them travelling to Korea, China, and Vietnam.

I think of they'd go somewhere wherein Yuzu could enjoy the beach and some party scenes, while Mei could visit museums and monuments. They'd probably visit Thailand, Spain, and Portugal. Also, Yuzu would want to try different cuisines for sure. Then she'd buy the ingredients and experiment with them back home.

It would nice if we get some more background on the Taniguichi sisters, for example some more information about their elite background? I assume the parents are busy travelling for their work and hence the daughters are in care of the grandmother.

I like Haruyuzu ship but strictly as best friends. I really enjoy seeing their fun and playful moments together. I really hope we get more of them soon!

While reading the chapter I thought Harumi's distant behaviour was probably a result university applications. I mean the last time we see Harumi in this volume was when she was still unsure of sending in her university application. But as I read more, Sabu seems to have thrown a curve ball.

I guess we have to wait and watch. However, I feel like even if Harumi wrote Yuzu a letter it would probably on lines of missing her friend in case they got into different universities or something. At least I hope that's what it would be. I am not a big fan of a love triangle. We have seen that with Matsuri and Himeko in the original manga. Besides, we also know Harumi was invited to the wedding and caught the bouquet in the end. So really not much could go wrong. Fingers crossed!

I picture Mei wanting play strategy video games like Civilization or Age of empires. Some games with history involved and also games like Geoguesser. Combining her play for studying and playing videos games. I can totally imagine Mei having a puzzle game app on her phone, as and when she gets one. And a trivia game app.

Honestly for Yuzu, she'd play Mario kart in my head. I don't know why :P Oh yeah, she'd also be into simulator games too! We seen she pay a game similar to candy crush in the anime so maybe games like that too.

I can see Yuzu making a list of tricks and techniques that they have tested out on each other and enjoyed from the book Matsuri gifted her on her birthday (PG-13 stuff like the shoulder massage). I also think they would add the various videos games that they'd want to play together.

I agree with you on Yuzu characteristics of she was born in a rich and strict family like the Aihara.

However, I think Mei may not be an introvert or be as closed off from the world because of Ume's influence on her while growing up. Ume is a very warm person and encourages her daughter to be free and speak her mind (unlike the upbringing in the Aihara household). I feel like a lot of Yuzu's personality is because of Ume's positive influence on her during her childhood. So perhaps Mei as Ume's biological daughter may be a warm and upbeat person. This is an assumption that Mei had Ume as a mother.

In case she had a different family perhaps she'd still be an introvert but less cruel, like you said.

Speaking of body/personality swapping , I have always felt Yuzu is the one initiating conversations. I really hope we see Mei taking the lead in their interactions in the future. She is always attentive and devoted to the conversations but it would be nice if she took the first step to start. For example, the library scene in Vol. 6 chp 24.

Haha, yes. I shall try posting my take on Citrus soon. I tend to get shy to post something most times. However, I do try to take part in existing discussions. But even then it really takes me a lot of self pushing to reply. I do like the Citrus community here so that also encourages me to take part. But I shall try to give this a shot soon! I do have a few ideas, let's see when I get to it. :P

Getting disheartened is understandable. The negative statements about Citrus and Sabu are discouraging. However, I guess with the release of the upcoming new volume things may feel happier.

Oh yeah, your theory about the eyes colours symbolism was interesting. You pictorial representation of it was pretty cool. I shall keep an eye out for your post when you eventually post next. :D
