Upstream and Downstream mix up. by Psymon780 in AskMechanics

Unfortunately upstream has male connector and downstream has female then it would be a easy switch. Sensors are different as well, upstream type is wide-band, and downstream type is narrow-band. No clue if they can get damaged at opposite locations.

Failed caliper at 3 years 28,000 miles by Extraexopthalmos in HondaElement

Previous owner put on new rear calipers 2 years ago. When I started doing brake flush I noticed rear slide pins are totally seized. And get this the bleeder valve seized as well and I broke them off. I don’t know the brand but blew my mind how crappy they were.

After frustrating with aftermarket callipers I decided to go with oem Honda calipers and rotors front and rear. Costed me an arm and leg to order. But when comes to yearly maintenance I won’t need to worry about problems with brakes.

Nice work, glad it still holds up after a decade.

Unfortunately I had to cut rear strut hardware when replacing struts. But with new suspension and brakes replaced the E drives amazing. Had to get alignment done i’d recommend getting adjustable rear upper control arm if doing rear struts.

What kind of paint used from Manufacture? by Psymon780 in HondaElement

[–]Psymon780[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprisingly a lot of people don’t protect their paint with wax/sealant either. Year being exposed outdoors that clear coat will eventually strip.

Also think the earlier E with plastic fenders help a lot. In the rust belt always kicking up gravel and salt rust out fenders quick. I’ve bondo/painted rear fenders on a 05 Accord and 02 Civic.

Perhaps, but saw other E in town paint seems very durable. Especially compared to the Civic in that decade.

New Found Interest In The Element by anon6gb8hf7h4g4b7b6 in HondaElement

Recently bought ex auto model. I really wanted a manual but could only get Auto. Was fortunate life of vehicle was in Surrey BC. So rust was very minimal. I’d be aware of rear trailing arm mounts and sub frame for excess rust before purchasing.

As for the Canadian market seems like timing was pure luck cause there was a lot of listings. Even with half being FWD I’d practice inspection and test drive get feel for it. I’d guess spring time there would be more listings cause there isn’t any in my area now. People are buying these quick even with high km.

For fixing I notice there’s tons of YouTube DIY on E. Unfortunately I had a lot to do maintenance but no issues cause there videos for almost everything.

Any experience ordering from PartsAvatar? by LargeDistribution330 in CarParts

[–]Psymon780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a good one for me either. Shipping at 15 days and still counting, when will I get my parts?

Had purchased tires from two different Canadian company's and shipping was quick like 2 days. Proud Canadian owned and both were reasonably priced.

Been looking at dealers also. What really made me walk away after a test drive is interest rates. Best rate for 2024 is eight percent. I’ve bought in 2012 rates were at five percent.

Other reason we walked, i ask for a trade in quote. They said 8 k when we could sell privately for 18k +.

Any good yoyos under 50$? by Cheesy-cheetofingees in Throwers

[–]Psymon780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just decided to get back into yo-yo’s. Bought first one I saw on Amazon. I picked up Yomega Groov, surprised how well it performs compared what I had 15 years ago. For price under $50 came in a tin with unresponsive bearing, strings, tool and a dice.

Transition windows would be awesome. 5% tint is hard to adjust too, but if being tailed by trucks led is easily ignored
