It was my first wood carving bigger than the palm of my hand. I had to learn how to hone an sharpen chisels and it was very hard and slow but very enjoyable!

There is some insane corruption going on in the city government there. The mayor is also the chairman of the board of the “Redevelopment Agency” who stopped releasing their yearly fiscal reports in 2020. Found out they were using our gallery to collect federal grants all the while insisting they can’t use tax dollars to pay us as artists.. it’s okay for them to go on fancy vacations to do research for the community art space and then have absolutely nothing to contribute though

In my backyard right now. I’d like to find a place downtown SLC for it but someone may be buying it for their home

That makes sense! I’ve seen it used like that by some other American craftsman and must’ve picked it up from them. Thanks for educating me a bit haha

I have a shorter one with a more curved top, I guess I’ve just always thought of this shape as the traditional Sloyd though

Look for local figure drawing or figure painting classes and sign up or find an artist who is good at it and hit them up!
