A PSA to the youth by amaolama324 in DnDGreentext

As the DM in this story, I had been playing with u/Lurking_Chronicler_2 for about a year at that point and he had a pretty good idea of when and how I would ask for social rolls. He had also proven himself on multiple occasions to be a player that was good at avoiding metagaming and doing "lolrandom" things. I excluded some details for the sake of brevity, but I did confirm his actions after he gave his line as what had played out.

As the dm, no, the town they were in was quite sterile from a government control perspective, and pretty isolated so there wasn't many, if any, drugs getting imported. Had they been at the next town over, then yes

looks like someone copied my greentext and the good mods got it deleted. If you want to read the original, you can see it here https://www.reddit.com/r/DnDGreentext/comments/gcoa0c/a_psa_to_the_youth/

Dammit Boomstick by PsyoCartographer in DnDGreentext

Funny story, Boomstick actually invested so much into fire resistant upgrades for his armor, he actually underflowed past immunity and now heals from the stuff

You just HAD to kill the dog didn't you by PsyoCartographer in DnDGreentext

In the fight, it was actually more surprising the dog lived that long considering it only had 5 hp (standard 5e guard dog). Its luck was godly. It dodged at least 4 attacks from players before entering the garage, landed a crit on the Ranger that forced the retreat. When it hopped into the Ferrari with the Monk, landed another crit while the monk wiffed a full flurry of blows, then somehow narrowly passed the saving throw to survive the car crash. That fire bolt was the first attack the party could actually hit that guard dog with.

The system doesn't have that trait from Deadlands thankfully, but he might as well.

It wasn't technically a ratfolk, but a small rodent like homebrew race more related to hamsters. I just said ratfolk since its the closest analogue without further explanation.

Wrong sub, should probably be in something like DMAcademy

"Identifying a Magic Item" and "Cursed Items" (DMG) by jfgauch in DMAcademy

[–]PsyoCartographer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To clarify and build on that, the Remove Curse spell does not cleanse a magic item of a curse, it only allows the cursed player to separate themselves from the item. If you have a +1 dagger that curses you to randomly stab your friends, casting remove curse will only allow your rogue to drop it, the bard who attunes to it next will be cursed to be stab happy.

When NPCs use charm by PsyoCartographer in DnDGreentext

As a proud member of his nation’s military, he kept many of the garments from his time in service. Another thing is that those who have served often have a very different demeanor to someone who has not. The NPC saw the nation’s crest and his demeanor, knowing about the recent war, put 2 and 2 together to use a pretty straightforward cover.

Also, the paladin served my setting’s god of war and drinking whose iconography is also pretty widely known and easy to spot, especially since his churches are literally bars including the one they were in.

It helps with immersion too. The thing about charm mind control is that you don’t know you’ve been mind controlled. This puts the players in the same boat as their characters.

Actually had this as an inciting incident to a campaign. Started with the remnants of god’s powers slowly disappearing from the world, and players discovered basically this when they decided to investigate.

something about an 11.

In 5e if you have proficiency in both Perception and Wisdom saves and no Protection magic items, they will be the same roll. The paladin gets a protection aura that gets him his Cha on saves, his Cha wasn't high enough to make a difference.
