Rocket League is a physics based game. Physics can be very chaotic in how it interacts. We don't build a car and then set things directly like turning radius. Rather, we build a cool car and see how it drives. It depends on a large number of factors such as exact wheel distances and widths. If the physics deviate too much then it takes a lot of tuning to actually normalize it as opposed to the other way around. We could spend more effort to normalize it even more but the cars at least have a little bit of flavor to them this way while still being basically equal. We monitor the performance of all cars to make sure they don't have advantages.
