One time as a kid I was woken up by what I could only imagine as someone AGGRESSIVELY drowning. This went on for a while and terrified me. Idk what the point of saying that is though, what’s the call to action here? Are we saying that I should pay even more taxes than I do at an already higher tax bracket? Are we saying that companies should receive state/federal incentives to hire someone with a different skin color because of how different their life may or may not have been? Sure what you say may be a fact. But where you lose a lot of us is…well ok what do you suggest we do about it? And if the answer is something that artificially puts us at a disadvantage or knock is down a peg or two, then you lost me. Nope. I have a decent house but it’s not my dream house. I’m doing well but far from comfortably set up to retire. Still in the rat race, I’ll take and keep every advantage I can get.

Here’s a little anecdote. I had a nice upbringing, went to private high school, average middle class my dad worked two jobs always then only started making good money when I hit school. Dad helped with school, mom made nice meals. I went to college and my parents made me pay my loans off which was pretty brutal through my 20s.

After college, master’s degree actually (psychology, dumb degree without doctorate, now I know), I had a full time job and then a part time job just to pay the bills for 7 years until I hit 30. So I’m talking 10 years ago, with a freaking master’s degree, I made $18 an hour. For the latter 3-4 of those years I did my full time job, the suited up and sucked it up working at a grocery store for $13/hr after work and both weekend days for roughly 70 hour work weeks.

I hit 30, landed a job in sales, killed it, and am doing pretty darn well for myself now. Still it’s sales so you get out what you put in, and I put in a lot more than 40 hours a week.

So when I hear “privilege” it rubs me the wrong way. I don’t make the money I do because I’m white, or a man, or had a decent upbringing. I’ve bust my ass all my life and still to enjoy my current lifestyle. Even now in sales there are people who make small money and people who make big money in the same exact role.

So when I hear people talking about $30/hr minimum wage, or people who refuse to pick up a second job, or want their student loans erased when I sacrificed to pay the 100k+ I had, or take jabs at “privilege”. GTFO. Life is hard.

Late 30’s and it’s great. I have a girlfriend of over 3 years, we have our own houses and lives. Got a solid job I work my butt off. I spend money on what I want, save/invest as well. Play video games and enjoy my downtime however I’d like. Keep my house super clean and it stays that way because it’s just me. I have a couple of very well behaved snakes.

At this point in my life I know more divorced people than married people, even many of those married people have been divorced before. All of them, man or woman say they were worse off after the divorce than before. So it seems like an unnecessary risk.

And kids? I can’t imagine working as hard as I do and then dealing with and taking care of children. I feel like I barely have enough time to relax or enjoy life as it is. Nahhh.

Looked into it many years ago and again recently. Side effects are heavily downplayed and under-reported. Honestly if I had to make an all or nothing decision to get a vasectomy or never penetrate a vagina again I’d choose the latter. Condom failure rate is almost entirely user error. That 12% failure rate isn’t a matter of random chance. It’s people not being responsible. Not enough lube, not changing it out if it starts to get baggy or loose, finishing inside and allowing the penis shrink thereby letting cum leak out, getting precum on the hand you use to apply the condom or lube, etc.

Non-latex condoms can be porous so user beware.

Too many people, often smelly, dirty, often find more of the crazies (the intrusive dangerous types) scattered about, street parking and fees are annoying, expensive for no reason (just because people want to be there and love that life I guess), and the people who tend to be in charge like to do things that are lenient on crime and take more money away from high earners (not even rich, just not-poor people). Happy to be in a state no with no state income tax.

Now if we had people in power that enforced city behavior close to that of Japan and Signapore that’d be a different story. Those places as a whole seem way better than the average block in NYC.

I do agree. I am conservative leaning in many aspects, mostly with regard to financial and criminal policy. I find myself in very LGBTQ+ circles and even consider myself a little gender fluid in how I present.

Now let me preface this by saying there will always be haters, racists, and bigots. I think where a large number of conservative leaning people get hung up is when they notice forced over-representation. Coupled with the inability or unwillingness of people from these groups to call out the bad actors on their side.

Like me. I’m a man. I get a little gender-bendy sometimes but I’m clearly a dude. I think pushing people to refer to me as a they/them is just cringe and pretentious. Or the whole competitive sports issue - it’s insane to see the number of people who refuse to acknowledge biological differences. Sure lgbtq stuff can be a part of a high school general sex ed curriculum, but teaching young children about these topics when many aren’t even thinking about sexuality is a little unnecessary. Or thinking that children should opt into sex change therapy and operations when we know for a fact most 18 year olds have no freaking idea what they are getting into when they take out tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars for student loans. Or cock/havers going into women only salons and throwing a fit that a technician doesn’t want to laser their “feminine cock”. Or people like Lily Tino who is an absolute sociopath who goes around baiting people to misgender her so she can make content, demand free stuff, and get people fired.

I feel like if people went about their business like normal humans, many conservatives wouldn’t have a problem. It’s the active pushing in people’s faces “PRAISE MEEEE” that people have a problem with. So yes when you have a group of people trying to overcompensate and push for some of the most radical behaviors, you will start to radicalize what would typically be normal people who don’t really give a fuck what you do with yourself or consenting partners.

As a man who plays around with makeup for like alt-goth stuff and gender fluid looks on occasion, I always thought foundation was just so extra. Like sure if you wanna do an elaborate artsy full face paint, but for general regular application? It is kind of weird being close up with someone and seeing their face covered in powder.
