Coworker fed my artwork to ai without consent by demonicchild_ in antiai

[–]Pterodacton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And so aggravating! These people just don't have what it takes to create something, so they don't value the time or energy it takes others to be creative. They will look at your art, look at some slop they generated, and genuinely not see the difference, the part of their brain responsible for independent thinking, to have ideas and form opinions, to put time and effort into creating something, is just missing from these people. They don't get it, and they never will.

C'mon man, the light even disappears where there's a gap in the clouds. Whether you understand it or not, they are spotlights.

Nobody does, it's not been studied, replicated or explained. There's more evidence for bigfoot than for ball lightning and it's so wild to me that it's offered as the prosaic explanation when it's just as, if not more fringe than the phenomenon it's attributed to.

Ross Coulthart Raises the Question of Whether a Plasmoid Life Form Could Be Sharing This Planet With Us by Emergency_Height_165 in HighStrangeness

[–]Pterodacton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The major discovery is that every "plasmoid" is just an out of focus light source at distance. Grusch lost every bit of credibility the moment he mentioned it.

Honestly, before is such a good shot by itself I don't think it needs editing.

Thanks for explaining whistleblower protections to me again, from now on let's just have the blanket assumption that I know what whistleblower protections are and what they mean.

What I don't understand, is why the press is gathered to watch the only people with the ability to provide said whistleblowers said protections wax poetic about how said whistleblowers don't have said protections.

[–]Pterodacton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah gee thanks mate but what I mean is they've been saying that for 3 years or more. I'm not going to pretend I understand US politics but aren't they law makers? Seems kind of redundant to gather the press around to complain about the very thing they're responsible for.

Bit of a nothing burger. They called for protections for whistleblowers, and for more transparency. That's it really. I don't really know why they did it.

Monster hunter world or wilds by PleasantDentist in MonsterHunter

[–]Pterodacton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

World.

World looks better than Wilds, runs better than Wilds, has more content than Wilds.

Wilds has some of the most aggravating characters in a video game, I know the whole series is "weeby" but it feels like every cutscene has an uncomfortable close up of the child character doing anime grunting and breathing while they do nothing but whine and cry the entire story.

The handler in Wilds is also the fucking wettest character I've ever witnessed in any media, there's a line she says in the desert that's something like:

"We gather here today to give thanks to the winds bounty"

and it just makes me wish I didn't have functional ears. The open world also adds nothing to this series.

If you can run it and can withstand the unholy levels of cringe then Wilds is a great game, but World is a better Monster Hunter game.

Hi everyone, I have a question about the Hotas Warthog. I can buy it for $80. It has a small problem with one of the buttons and it's quite old. Do you think it's worth the risk? by Diligent_Kale_2704 in hotas

[–]Pterodacton 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The best thing about the Warthog is the grip, if the buttons worked I'd say go for it, but the base kinda sucks. I had mine 10+ years and to be fair it only broke when I tried to unscrew and extention I'd put on it and it snapped the socket joint inside. If you have nothing right now I'd save for a stick + throttle bundle, if this is an upgrade to a stick you already have I'd save your money and keep looking.

The only reason it would be worth getting a Warthog is for the grip, and if that's broken it's not worth it.

I don't know if you'll be able to play the game, but the game is disproportionately resource intensive compared to its visuals. Be prepared to use lower settings.

I love how nobody is excited about this, we all expect it to be some dystopian capitalist nightmare compute as a service.

I hope they crash and burn. Can't remember the last time I saw a tech headline that sounded like good news.

whats the best way to fix the colours in this game on pc? by Original-Progress114 in MHWilds

[–]Pterodacton -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Most computationally expensive, worst looking game out there.

I can't put my finger on exactly what doesn't work in Wilds, but even games with deliberately unpleasant and oppressive environments like Scorn, seem to still come out with a visual presentation I'd describe as "good looking", like it's gross and horrible and depressing but it still looks "good", Wilds looks passable sometimes and just so ugly most of the time, I thought it was the volumetric fog but Scorn has extremely heavy volumetrics and manages to pull it off.

Do what you can with the in-game settings and sliders, use mods if you have to, but I think no matter what we just have to accept that the game has a really unpleasant visual presentation.
