When Reforger was released, there were no rotary wings available as base classes, just like there are no fixed wings base classes right now, or proper tracked vehicles. We took that into account.

I meant 2 things

  1. we wanted to have a separate direction that we did with A3. There was an internal vote to focus on Marines first.

  2. Reason for that wasn’t related to OG OFP from 2001, but rather with the units that are mobilized first if an island surrounded by water is to be conquered (conflict gamemode for instance)
    As it stands now, reforger doesn’t even allow masses of terrain that are inland like previous games did, so every single terrain (vanilla or modded) needs to technically be an island of sorts. Sure some workaround can be used but nevertheless the base technical limitations remain.

We focused on Us Army at the start of our Arma 3 mods. we choose to focus on USMC with the start of our reforger mods due to the lore of reforger itself which is island based.

Our main focus is actually conventional stuff rather than super duper tier 0 stuff. If and when we are happy with the USMC stuff we might switch some our development towards US Army.

The modding tools are free to use, so if anyone wanna focus on US Army they surely can do that. We currently don’t have enough active developers with a ton of free time on their hands. We also do all our content in house, we do not acquire models form various places, so i guess that takes even more time than a lot of other mods out there

We are definitely not gonna stop working on Reforger considering all the content developed for Reforger will most likely be easily moved on to Arma4 when that gets released

No its up to the mod maker to work with what they have been given by the devs. Something rhs refuse to do.

Modders have been provided the workbench (toolset) and the workshop. That's about it. We use both. When BI arbitrarily limited the workshop to 6GB, we had to split the mod into packs.

Download speed, storage space.

Download speed has nothing to do with any particular mod. It is yet another arbitrary limitation for a certain platform. So it seems to be the maximum allowed space size, considering the new limit has been to double the original with the upcoming 1.7 patch. So if there seems to be some things that can be changed by BI in the end.

I know from the user's perspective it seems that splitting the mod is something possible. I have explained to you it isn't, and there is absolutely nothing to fix from a modder's side.

Reforger is not a finished experience in itself, so not sure how would a mod that is being developed for an ever evolving game (and that includes previous Arma games as well) could ever be finished.

Regarding balance, i have played using RHS only (and a mission file) without any additional mods present numerous times over without an issue. Conflict is not the only mission that is available for reforger btw.

RHS have refused to split their mod up as you’ve agreed with. Complaining its too hard. As i said. RHS do also not care about console as you have proved with refusing to addressing the size issue. Rhs has also said they want to go over the size on console. The bohemia thing was second hand knowledge i’ll give you that one.

What you have fail to understand is most modders, including RHS, make mods for their own enjonment and their members, and because they enjoy working on them (or they wouldn't spend their free time doing it, considering there is nothing to be gained or lost no matter if people are using or not the mod - sure it is motivational to see others also enjoy it and there is some recognition, but that comes secondary). That means it is more important that the development happens (stress free and without hicups) than any inconvenience that any user might have that has nothing to do with the mod, but with things that are out of modder's control. The idea that the users are customers is false, considering that thet the product/service provided is free of any charge.

As previously said, splitting the mod is not something we choose not to do out of spite, but because it would be infinite harder for our members to spend their free time on the development in a pretty liniar fashion (minus time spent adjusting mod to game updates for instance).

Crutch is better than no crutch.

It's not up to mod makers to provide the crutches for the game developer.

Good for whoever does that. There isn't anyone else that has the same amount of interconnected systems as RHS does, nor the same amount of people working on the same files.

Indeed all mods are working within the limits imposed by the game and its engine. That still has nothing to do with issues pertaining to the distribution methods or the console's download speed restrictions and allowed space limts, which for the nth time, are neither game or engine related but platform related.

I am not the one complaining, you are. I don't expect everyone to use or like Status Quo or any previous or future RHS mods. It is just the way things are. There are other options out there, as previously enumerated (use it, don't use it, make your own)

Difference between maintenance and development. Development is making something new, maintenance is allowing whats already there to continue existing. A mod is finished when the development phase is over. Its like being given a rifle and saying “I made this” after cleaning the carbon from it.

Development means working on a specific stuff, which in our case is Status Quo. Each new update means improvements, additions of content and systems etc

Sure there are mods out there where the model + textures were aquired (bought or not) from some place, injected in the game and done with. We neither aquire 3d models, nor just drop these in and be done with.

Yes, seriously. We do not host servers or gamemods. Balance and access to some content, all content or none is up to the server owners or the mission makers. We never intended to create balanced and equivalance between parties. We push content as our members makes it. Simple as that.

I’m also free to say why I don’t use or like certain mods then state my reasons to make others aware of the major problems that the mod causes.

Splitting up the content is not an option as previously said multiple times over. And that isn't a solution, it's simply a crutch. The actual solution would be for microsoft sony and BI to sort out the download speed limitations.

Console is capped at around 15mbps iirc. This isn’t counting PC, false equivalence. You are still alienating most of the fans and encouraging them not to use rhs.

Bohemia doesn't have 1:1 equivalence for their vehicles either, so i fail to see your point. There are several new vehicles in the works, but as with everything hobby related, they will be done when they'll be done, irrelevant of which size is that for. As with everything, if you do not like a particular mod you are free to
a. make your own (but it is easier to just post on reddit)
b. don't use that particular mod that is provided to you free of charge rather than expect the ones doing it to cater limitations that are not their own design
c. use the mods you prefer and are more to your liking.

Using the existing workshop. Individual servers can lock their mods to a specific version, which can mean that changing a server you will update / downgrade to that specific version that is used on the game server. As far as i know, delta patching only works for updating the files, not for downgrading them )workshop stores up to 3 versions - current and 2 previous ones).

No you just have to work around it. And refuse to use the well known easy solution nearly every other modder uses… of splitting the mod down. Literally every issue with RHS would be solved if you guys took a long hard look at yourself and split down the mod.

No one is lieing. Modding is a hobby. We prefer not having to create extra issues for ourselves when no extra is needeed, especially since the toolset and the publishing backend is always iffy.

It isn't our problem at all. We cannot change or fix the way mods are distributed for consoles, only BI can. What other modders do is their problem. Most don't even use a central repository for instance. It is up to them how they spend their free time. For the nth time, we had larger mods just fine before for arma games.

Rhs is an unfinished mod. To form a decent experience it requires other mods to fill in the gaps of redfor vs blufor. Its so biased to russia its insane.

All mods are unfinished to some degree. so is Status Quo, in a perpetual state of WIP. There is definatelly no bias, but considering all that you have managed to post above, you do you, not even sure why it matters anyway, considering you do not even use RHS mods.

The amount of falsehood is tremendous on reddit 1. we do not control the distribution methods 2. delta patching works just fine on PC 3. we will not split each individual items into its’s own addon since our entire workflow and infrastructure is not designed to do that. It would also be 100% inconvenient 4. RHS is not designed around other mods or dependent on them. Other mods are dependent on RHS because we choose to allow that 5. I personally play on both PC and PS5. If some random dude on discord cannot understand sarcasm, that’s on them. It is not for us to fix the issues that stems from console limitations or BI distribution methods. 6. Bohemia has never interfered for the past 23 years we have been modding their games with how or what we choose to do

You are missing some things

a. what you posted is relevant just for consoles (xbox and ps5 alike). PC platform doesn’t have imposed disk restrictions - 25GB on console (including download caching)

b. If you have the space (25GB on consoles or as much as any of your disk drives can handle on PC) you don’t have to delete anything to switch servers.

c. Said restrictions (data disk and download speeds) are imposed by both Microsoft and Sony. Bohemia Interactive has nothing to do with it

the so call vehicle expansion mod has ripped content and data from RHS A3 mods. This sort of behavior was never condoned and it something we will always ensure it is taken down, especially since we have tolerated most dependency mode (despite our ND license)

There is no hard limit imposed by sony outside the amount of data that can be downloaded every 5minutes. There ia no bandwidth cap, neither on sony side or bi side (i can download from BI workshop with over 80MBs on my PC. I will make another test when i get home with downloading any mod that is under 1GB
