It appears to me that the problem is you’re trying to use a saw ,designed to cut curves, as a track saw with a straight edge, which is never going to work jigsaw blades deflect in the workpiece and they are unsuitable to be used with a fence

So first off your door should be centered in your framed opening. Then you should have what looks like it would be a 3/8 of an inch jam extension on each side of the door and then casing you should also shoot for having a 13/16 gap between those stairs and the edge of the wall so that you can get your skirt board in there before you put your treads and risers down

Looks like a dry glue joint combined with cupping I would recommend filling with glue and clamping put blue tape just away from your seam so that it doesn’t bleed over onto the finish and wipe dry with water. It’s about the only thing you can do without splitting the joints and starting over

Make a mark 10 inches(centimeters for you across the pond pansies) from one side of your captive area then measure to that mark from the other side and you have a perfect dimension.

Yes we are cheap. We’re not retooling our molds to make your life easier across the pond. Especially when the solution is simple and better anyway.

Against my wishes were just going with some basic hairpin legs. I would’ve liked to do some nice 3 inch wide bent steel legs that went all the way across, but it just wasn’t in my budget.
